Background: Several studies have identified the radial nerve in arm using different anatomic landmarks, however, acontroversy remains. Deltoid tuberosity (DT) and brachioradialis (BR) are reproducible landmarks that can be used toidentify the radial nerve (RN) during fracture surgery. Methods: Dissection of RN was carried out in 17 fresh frozen adult cadavers. Using a calibrate...

A new technique of endoscopic carpal tunnel release using a 1.5-cm longitudinal palmar incision was used in 280 cases. The incision allows identification of the superficial palmar arch as well as the median nerve and its branches. A new knife/sleeve device that attaches to a standard 4-mm endoscope was created to simplify the procedure. The flexor retinaculum is endoscopically divided proximall...

Variations in the arterial pattern of the upper limb are frequently encountered during dissection of the human body. However, multiple variations in one limb are infrequently encountered. Dissection of the left amputated upper limb, 15 cm above the intercondyler line, of a female cadaver revealed the following variations. 1. The superficial brachial artery descends behind the bicepital apneuros...

Superficial peroneal nerve and its branches are frequently at risk for iatrogenic damage. Although different studies on anatomical variations of superficial peroneal nerve are available in the medical literature, such reports are rare from India. Hence the present study was undertaken on Indian population. A total of 60 specimens of inferior extremities from 30 properly embalmed and formalin fi...

Traumatic dislocation of the metacarpophalangeal joint is a relatively uncommon injury. The dislocation may be easily reducible (ie, simple) or require surgical intervention (ie, complex). The flexor tendons, lumbrical muscle, natatory ligament, and superficial transverse metacarpal ligament combine with the displaced volar plate to create a tight noose, preventing reduction. Surgical approach ...

A case of anomalous terminal branching of the axillary artery, concerning the variant called superficial brachioradial artery (arteria brachioradialis superficialis) was described, with special regard to its embryological origin. The left upper limb of a male cadaver was dissected in successive steps from the axillary fossa distally to the palmar region. A variant artery, stemming from the end ...

Lipoma is one of the most common benign soft tissue tumors. The most common location of lipomas is in areas of abundant adipose tissue. Lipomas arising in the peripheral nerves are rare tumors, with most arising in the forearm and wrist, and most have occurred within the median nerve. This report describes a case with lipoma arising in the superficial peroneal nerve.
