Tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) is a relatively common autosomal dominant genetic disorder affecting 1/14,000–1/6000 Western populations. The incidence of TSC in Chinese population is still unknown although case reports of Chinese TSC patients were documented. The main clinical features of TSC include seizures, mental retardation, and the development of hamartomas in multiple organs such as th...
Tuberous sclerosis is rarely associated with autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease in the so-called tuberous sclerosis complex. This association leads to an increased frequency of end-stage renal disease. We present a patient suffering from both syndromes, who received a renal graft and anticalcineurinic drugs as immunosuppressive agents. Progressive titration of the drug was necessary i...
Tuberous Sclerosis is a genetic multisystemic disease that mainly affects the central nervous system (CNS) of patients at any age. This study illustrates neuroimaging findings are included in clinical diagnostic criteria group with tuberous sclerosis (TS) two tertiary university hospitals. The findings, order frequency, cortical tubers, subependymal nodules, white matter abnormalities and giant...
There have been many reviews of tuberous sclerosis (Critchley and Earl, 1932; Ross and Dickerson, 1943; Dawson, 1954; Reed, Nickel, and Campion, 1963; Paulson and Lyle, 1966; Lagos and Gomez, 1967). The classical features, epilepsy, mental retardation, and adenoma sebaceum, are found in most patients with tuberous sclerosis, while retinal tumours (phakomas), visceral tumours, skeletal lesions, ...
Investigators from University of California Los Angeles, studied whether epileptogenic tubers in Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (TSC) can be identified by diffusion tensor imaging (DTI).
We describe a patient with tuberous sclerosis and an insulinoma. The neurologic abnormalities typically present in patients with tuberous sclerosis may, in rare cases, be manifestations of hypoglycemia. We discussed a possible association between tuberous sclerosis and multiple endocrine neoplasia type I.
