Abstract Studies of acute myeloid leukemia rely on DNA sequencing and immunophenotyping by flow cytometry as primary tools for disease characterization. However, tumor heterogeneity complicates integration variants immunophenotypes from separate measurements. Here we introduce DAb-seq, a technology simultaneous capture genotype cell surface phenotype single cells at high throughput, enabling di...
regulation of normal cell growth and turnover is balanced between cell pro¬liferation, cell differentiation and apoptosis. a disruption of this balance is thought to be an important event leading to carcinogenesis .one of the effector molecules in apoptosis is fas antigen . cross-linking of fas by its ligand (fas l) or agonistic anti fas antibodies induces apoptosis of cells expressing fas on t...
CAR T cell therapy is a promising immunotherapy that can target and eradicate leukemia cells with high specificity. While CD19, CD20, CD22 have shown impressive responses in ALL patients
Herein we describe a case of intraocular melanoma in a17-year old leukemic patient. The history, histological findings of the enucleated eye, blood and bone marrow of the patient were investigated. The enucleated eye contained epitheloid cell type melanoma instead of leukemic cell infiltration. We conclude that intraocular malignant melanoma can occur in acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
Abstract Resistance remains the major clinical challenge for therapy of Philadelphia chromosome–positive (Ph+) leukemia. With exception ponatinib, all approved tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) are unable to inhibit common “gatekeeper” mutation T315I. Here we investigated therapeutic potential crizotinib, a TKI targeting ALK and ROS1 in non-small cell lung cancer patients, which inhibited also ...
Introduction: Epigenetic changes such as promoter methylation of tumor suppressor genes (TSGs) is one of the most important mechanisms involved in the development of hematologic malignancies. Harmine is one of the Harmal-derived alkaloids with anti-proliferatory effects on leukemia cell lines. Since P16 and DAPK genes are hypermethylated in some hematologic malignancies, the current study aimed...
Despite continuous advances in the knowledge of the biology of acute myeloid leukemia (AML), the prognosis of AML patients treated with standard chemotherapy is still poor, especially in the elderly (> 60 y). It should be considered that AML mainly develops in the elderly, with a median age at diagnosis of 68 y and a growing incidence over 65 y. AML accounts for about 25% of all adult leukemias...
Background: Previous studies have pointed to the major role of viruses in pathogenesis cancers, especially lymphoproliferative cancers. Objectives: The current study investigated relationship between recent Human Herpesvirus Type 6 (HHV6) infection and childhood leukemia-lymphoma syndrome. Methods: From January 2011 December 2012, we entered every new case acute lymphoblastic leukemia, non-Hodg...
In chronic myeloid leukemia (CML), cytogenetic abnormalities found in addition to the t(9;22) translocation may impact the response to therapy. Loss of the Y chromosome is generally overlooked in this context, owing to its relatively frequent occurrence in healthy elderly patients. In this multicenter retrospective study, the outcome after imatinib treatment of 30 CML patients with karyotype sh...
221 samples of leukemic patients were studied, using morphologic, cytochemical staining pattern and immunophenotyping criteria. Patients included 63 children and 158 adults. Out of the adult group, 110 cases had acute leukemia including 67% AML, 330'{' ALL. In this group, 24 cases of CML" 19 cases of CLL, 4 cases of HCL and one case of plasma cell leukemia were classified. Out of 63 cases of le...
