If ~q1, . . . , ~qm : Z → Z are polynomials with zero constant terms and E ⊂ Z has positive upper Banach density, then we show that the set E ∩ (E − ~q1(p− 1))∩ . . .∩(E−~qm(p−1)) is nonempty for some prime p. We also prove mean convergence for the associated averages along the prime numbers, conditional to analogous convergence results along the full integers. This generalizes earlier results ...

We give a complete characterization of the class of upward monotone generalized quantifiers Q1 and Q2 over countable domains that satisfy the scheme Q1x Q2y ! Q2y Q1x . This generalizes the characterization of such quantifiers over finite domains, according to which the scheme holds iff Q1 is 9 or Q2 is 8 (excluding trivial cases). Our result shows that in infinite domains, there are more gener...

We investigate the inclusion of 10-dimensional string loop corrections to the entropy function of twocharge extremal small black holes of the heterotic string theory compactified on S1 × T 5 and show that the entropy is given by π √ a q1q2 + b q1 where q1 and q2 are the charges with q1 ≫ q2 ≫ 1 and a and b are constants. Incorporating certain multi-string states into the microstate counting, we...

In various frameworks, to assess the joint distribution of a kdimensional random vector X = (X1, . . . , Xk), one selects some putative conditional distributions Q1, . . . , Qk. Each Qi is regarded as a possible (or putative) conditional distribution for Xi given (X1, . . . , Xi−1, Xi+1, . . . , Xk). The Qi are compatible if there is a joint distribution P for X with conditionals Q1, . . . , Qk...

Map Reduce (Hadoop) is a popular framework for conducting data processing in a parallel manner. It requires us to take the data "out of" the database in order to process it efficiently, yet promises to achieve high-performance and scalable data processing by exploiting the power of a compute cluster (cloud) with ease. More recently, a marriage of MapReduce with DBMS Technologies has been touted...

IMPORTANCE Current guidelines allow substantial discretion in use of noninvasive cardiac imaging for patients without acute myocardial infarction (AMI) who are being evaluated for ischemia. Imaging use may affect downstream testing and outcomes. OBJECTIVE To characterize hospital variation in use of noninvasive cardiac imaging and the association of imaging use with downstream testing, interven...

Abstract Anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH) and testosterone (T) both play distinct roles in the early stages of folliculogenesis. However, relationship between serum T AMH levels is poorly understood. This study aimed to investigate association infertile women. A total 1935 women aged 20–46 years were included cross-sectional divided into four quartile groups (Q1 Q4) based on levels. Compared subjec...

Let Q1 and Q2 be two arbitrary quadrics with no common hyperplane in P n(Fq). We give the best upper bound for the number of points in the intersection of these two quadrics. Our result states that |Q1 ∩ Q2| ≤ 4q n−2 + πn−3. This result inspires us to establish the conjecture on the number of points of an algebraic set X ⊂ Pn(Fq) of dimension s and degree d: |X(Fq)| ≤ dq s + πs−1.
