shot peening applies a residual compressive stress field (rcsf) on the surface of parts. it also shifts “crack nucleation sites” to sub-surface locations. a nondestructive method of measuring the stresses, sin2ψ was utilized here and the stress values introduced to ansys software. for this purpose, uniform stress in all directions was applied on the con rod. loading on the rod in ansys had thre...

Engineers use the breadth and depth of leading simulation software to predict how products will behave in multi-domain operating environments. Product behavior nearly always involves different types of physical phenomena, to one degree or another. Temperature differences can influence mechanical stress, for example, and air flow around a structure may impact acoustics or change structural loadi...

A finite element scheme for simulation of welding residual stresses is presented in this paper. Detailed thermal and residual stress analyses for butt-welded and socket-welded pipes are performed using ANSYS and ABAQUS. The calculated distribution of axial stress and hoop stress at welded joint are validated against experimental results. Furthermore, residual stress relaxation under high amplit...

This study describes the development to date of a computational full-body human phantom based on the VHP female dataset. Its unique feature is full compatibility both with MATLAB and specialized FEM computational software packages such as ANSYS HFSS/Maxwell 3D. Applications for low-frequency and radio-frequency electromagnetic modeling are

Fracture of femur bones in car accident is common. In the present work, the fracture of femur bone was modeled as a failure under three-point bending. The CT scan data was converted into 3D solid modeling using Mimics software. The finite element analysis (FEA) was carried out using ANSYS software. The FEA results were in good agreement with the experiment results.

Vibration is one of the major drawbacks of Linear Switched Reluctance Motor (LSRM). Two design techniques to reduce vibration in the LSRM are proposed. A detailed mathematical approach for calculating natural frequency has been outlined. Different techniques to predict the vibration frequencies are analyzed using ANSYS software. The analyzed structures are compared by using experimental and sim...
