In this paper, we have designed the patch array antennas with the slots capable of working in millimeter-wave radar system. The designed array antennas have multi-band characteristics at 77GHz. As a result, this paper is proposed the possibility of prototyping by design and analysis of microstrip array antennas for mm-wave radar as using a patch arrays with U-shaped slots.

This paper reviews recent progress on nonreciprocal metamaterials, especially with the nonreciprocity in the phase characteristics of transmission coefficients, and their applications to antennas. The nonreciprocal metamaterials are implemented into leaky wave antennas, new type of traveling wave resonators, and resonant-type beam-steering antennas.

Microstrip antennas have been one of the niost innovative topics in antenna theory and design in recent years, and are increasingly finding application in a wide range of modern microwave systems. This paper begins with a brief overview of the basic characteristics of microstrip antennas, and then concentrates on the most significant developments in microstrip antenna technology that have been ...

MIMO techniques allow increasing wireless channel performance by decreasing the BER and increasing the channel throughput and in consequence are included in current mobile communication standards. MIMO techniques are based on benefiting the existence of multipath in wireless communications and the application of appropriate signal processing techniques. The singular value decomposition (SVD) is...

In rich scattering environments, wireless systems with multiple transmit and receive antennas (MIMO) offer large capacity gains. They are in general based on a parallel transmission of 1 ≤ M ≤ NT signal steams called layers (NT is the number of transmit antennas). If the channel is not known to the transmitter the best strategy would be to exploit transmit diversity for each layer. This ensures...

Transmission efficiency in radio channels can be considerably improved by using multiple transmit and receive antennas and employing a family of schemes called space–time (ST) coding. Both extended range and/or improved bandwidth efficiency can be achieved, compared with a radio link with a single transmit and receive antenna. Bit-interleaved coded modulation schemes give diversity gains on fad...

In this study, coplanar wave (CPW) feed microstrip antennas are designed to form dual frequency by inserting single stub. Bandwidths of the microstrip printed antennas for both upper and lower frequencies are represented in this study by considering the simulated and experimental results. For each size of T-matching network and each permittivity values are varied and effects of these variations...

One of the most important aspects for body centric communication is the development of the textile antenna for on-body communication. Antennas for on-body environment usually suffer performance degradation caused by the human body. Apart from that, textile antenna gets easily bent, flexed, wrinkled or wet. This paper presents an investigation on three different designs and types of planar anten...

Electrically small antennas are of interest in a variety of applications, particularly where the antennas must be unobtrusive. The performance properties considered in the design of small antennas typically include impedance, radiation efficiency, pattern shape, polarization and particularly operating bandwidth and quality factor (Q). In this paper, we compare the performance properties of seve...

Introduction: Autonomous communications systems often involve the use of separate solar cells and antennas, which necessitate a compromise in the utilisation of the limited surface area available. These separate items may be combined thus saving valuable ‘real estate’, provided that the antennas and solar cells are compatible [1]. One method for achieving this is to integrate the two kinds of d...
