Sphingobium yanoikuyae TJ is a halotolerant di-n-butyl-phthalate-degrading bacterium, isolated from the Haihe estuary in Bohai Bay, Tianjin, China. Here, we report the 5.1-Mb draft genome sequence of this strain, which will provide insights into the diversity of Sphingobium spp. and the mechanism of phthalate ester degradation in the estuary.

The copper-catalyzed and iodosylbenzene-mediated aziridination of (S)-N-(9phenylfluorenyl)allylglycine tert-butyl ester 10 led to the isolation of the corresponding aziridine 13 in 28% yield (65% based on consumed starting material). The (2S,4S) isomer was preferentially formed with a diastereomeric excess of 36%.

Chiral BOX-Cu(OTf)2 catalyzed enantioselective aminolactonization of the tert-butyl ester of alkenoic acids has been developed via in situ aziridination using PhINNs as the nitrene source. It provides exclusively trans-γ- and δ-amino lactones including an additional all-carbon quaternary stereo-centre with up to 98% ee in good to excellent yields.
