Separation mechanisms for spheres and rodlike particles in classical field-flow fractionation (FFF) are studied using a Brownian dynamics simulation. For spheres, simulation results for mean elution time are found to be in good agreement with experimental data and the steric inversion theory of Giddings [1]. Modeling of particle separation for rods is compared with spheres of equal diffusivity....
A numerical dynamic-aerodynamic interface for simulating the separation dynamics of constrained strap-on boosters jettisoned in the atmosphere is presented. A 6-DOF multi body dynamic solver ،using Constraint Force Equation Methodology is coupled with a numerical time dependent Euler flow solver. An automatic dynamic mesh updating procedure is employed using smoothing and l...
We propose a simple method for measuring the mode power of two-mode fiber based on the bending method. The mode power ratio is determined with better than 1 dB accuracy by undertaking three power measurements with different numbers of fiber bends. We also evaluate the estimation error of the proposed method and the required resolution of the measurement.
We describe the first realization of liquid chromatographic separation in a droplet-based microfluidic system and develop a novel mode for microchip-based chromatography named as droplet-array liquid-liquid chromatography. In this system, two arrays of picoliter-scale droplets immobilized on both sidewalls of a microchannel with droplet trapping technique served as the stationary phase in chrom...
We have found that there are two distinct emission modes in PSR B0809+74. Beside its normal and most common mode, the pulsar emits in a significantly different quasi-stable mode after most or possibly all nulls, occasionally for over 100 pulses. In this mode the pulsar is brighter, the subpulse separation is less, the subpulses drift more slowly and the pulse window is shifted towards earlier l...

A functional reliability simulation method based on the Kriging model is proposed to efficiently evaluate of low-shock separation nuts. First, a deterministic function nut established. Second, working load, geometric dimensions and propellant combustion parameters are introduced establish nonlinear implicit in different stages, used display function. Finally, workflow established, sensitivity a...
Passively mode-locked fiber ring lasers and dispersion-managed fiber transmission links are examples of optical dissipative dynamical systems, supporting stable pulses and multi-soliton trains. An example of stable multi-soliton solution with +/-p/2 phase differences, have been predicted theoretically earlier based on the model of complex quintic Ginzburg-Landau equation [1]. More recently, we ...
Placing a guard trace next to a signal line is the conventional technique for reducing the common-mode radiation from a printed circuit board. In this paper, the suppression of common-mode radiation from printed circuit boards having guard traces is estimated and evaluated using the imbalance difference model, which was proposed by the authors. To reduce common-mode radiation further, a procedu...
