The synthesis and spectroscopic characterizations of size-controlled Cu nanoparticles forming self-assembled 2D superlattices with hexagonal packing are described. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM), nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA), and electron spectroscopy for chemical analysis (ESCA) techniques were used to characterize the octanethiol-protected coppe...

Fluorescent aggregates formed by self-assembly of a hexaphenylbenzene based derivative serve as a reactor and a stabilizer for the formation of ferromagnetic iron oxide (α-Fe2O3) nanoparticles in aqueous medium at room temperature. These α-Fe2O3 nanoparticles showed excellent catalytic activity in palladium, copper and amine free Sonogashira cross coupling reactions and also in photocatalytic d...

Copper nanoparticles (Cu NPs) supported on diamond nanoparticles (D NPs) previously purified by Fenton treatment (Cu/D) followed by annealing with hydrogen (Cu/DH) are highly efficient and reusable heterogeneous catalysts for hydrogenation of styrene to ethylbenzene with the minimum productivity value of 30,617 cycles.

Tribological behavior of Cu-MoS2 and Ag-MoS2 nanocomposite lubricant was studied. Cu nanoparticles produced by electrical explosion of copper wires and Ag nanoparticles prepared by electrospark erosion were employed as metal cladding modifiers of MoS2 nanolamellar particles. The tribological tests showed Cu-MoS2 and Ag-MoS2 nanocomposite lubricants changed the friction coefficient of the initia...

Ethylene glycol-functionalised copper(II) carboxylates Cu[O2CCR2(OC2H4)nOCH3]2 (n = 0-3; R = H, Me) (2a-e) have been prepared by the reaction of [Cu2(OAc)4·2H2O] with CH3O(C2H4O)nCR2CO2H (1a-e). Upon reduction of 2a-e with triphenylphosphine, the corresponding tris(triphenylphosphine)copper(I) complexes 3a-e were obtained, which could be converted to the bis(triphenylphosphine)copper(I) complex...

A simple and one-pot method for the synthesis of water-soluble, red-emitting, highly fluorescent gold nanoparticles has been reported using 11-mercaptoundecanoic acid (11-MUA) as the protecting group. We found that the fluorescent gold nanoparticles could selectively detect copper ions in aqueous solution, with a limit of detection of about 87 nM.

This paper demonstrates that Cu2O nanoparticles form in the early stages of a solution-phase synthesis of copper nanowires, and aggregate to form the seeds from which copper nanowires grow. Removal of ethylenediamine from the synthesis leads to the rapid formation of Cu2O octahedra. These octahedra are introduced as seeds in the same copper nanowire synthesis to improve the yield of copper nano...

Regulatory efforts rely on nanometrology for the development and implementation of laws regarding the incorporation of engineered nanomaterials (ENMs) into industrial and consumer products. Copper is currently one of the most common metals used in the constantly developing and expanding sector of nanotechnology. The use of copper nanoparticles in products, such as agricultural biocides, cosmeti...

In this study was developed a natural process using a biological system for the biosynthesis of nanoparticles (NPs) and possible removal of copper from wastewater by dead biomass of the yeast Rhodotorula mucilaginosa. Dead and live biomass of Rhodotorula mucilaginosa was used to analyze the equilibrium and kinetics of copper biosorption by the yeast in function of the initial metal concentratio...

The effects of temperature and copper catalyst concentration on the formation of graphene-encapsulated copper nanoparticles (GECNs) were investigated by means of X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy-attenuated total reflectance, and transmission electron microscopy. Results showed that higher amounts of copper atoms facilitated the growth of more graphene islands and forme...
