We herein present a case of delayed enhancement of CSF on fluidattenuated inversion recovery (FLAIR) imaging in a patient with posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES). In our case despite the settled clinical setting of PRES initial MR scan was negative and on repeated FLAIR imaging increased CSF signal intensity was more conspicuous than subtle cortical involvement.

A new cationic gadolinium contrast agent is reported for delayed gadolinium enhanced magnetic resonance imaging of cartilage (dGEMRIC). The agent partitions into the glycosaminoglycan rich matrix of articular cartilage, based on Donnan equilibrium theory, and its use enables imaging of the human cadaveric metacarpal phalangeal joint.

We present a case in which intraocular silicone injection for complex retinal detachment resulted in migration and distribution of silicone along the intracranial visual pathway, and ultimately throughout the ventricular system. Misinterpretation of this material as intracranial hemorrhage on outside computed tomography imaging delayed emergent repair of a Type A aortic dissection until the dia...

Most of the previously reported lumbosacral nerve root avulsions presented with pseudomeningoceles at the time of delayed initial imaging. We report a case of traumatic lumbosacral nerve root injury associated with an isolated femur fracture and demonstrate the evolution of pseudomeningoceles following nerve root avulsions and edema in the perineural fat identified on the initial MR imaging.

Magnetic resonance imaging of articular cartilage has recently been recognized as a tool for the characterization of cartilage morphology, biochemistry and function. In this paper advancements in cartilage imaging, computation of cartilage volume and thickness, and measurement of relaxation times (T2 and T1Rho) are presented. In addition, the delayed uptake of Gadolinium DTPA as a marker of pro...

Foreign body aspiration is a frequently encountered pediatric emergency and a common cause of accidental death, with incidence peaking at two years of age [1]. More commonly, aspiration is not fatal and symptoms are nonspecific. This often leads to delayed diagnosis and increased morbidity. Therefore, imaging evaluation and familiarity with the imaging findings in foreign body aspiration is ess...

In gadoxetic acid–enhanced liver magnetic resonance imaging(MRI), it is known that the pseudoglandular type of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) may demonstrate high signal intensity on 20-minutes delayed imaging unlike the microtrabecular counterpart. Herein we report a case of HCC which consisted of mixed components of hypo- and hyper-intensity in the hepatobiliary phase of gadoxetic acid-enhanc...

We describe a case of carbon monoxide poisoning that led to pallidoreticular damage and delayed leukoencephalopathy. Serial diffusion-weighted MR imaging was performed. A restricted water diffusion pattern was demonstrated in the globus pallidus and substantia nigra in the early stage. Diffusion-weighted imaging is useful for early identification of the effects of acute carbon monoxide poisoning.
