We present a technique for fabricating realistic breast phantoms for microwave imaging experiments. Using oil-in-gelatin dispersions that mimic breast tissue dielectric properties at microwave frequencies, we constructed four heterogeneous phantoms spanning the full range of volumetric breast densities. We performed CT scans and dielectric properties measurements to characterize each phantom.

The dielectric properties of (Ba0:6Sr0:4)(Ti1 xSnx )O3 (0 x 0:3) ceramics were investigated. Single-phase specimens having a cubic perovskite structure could be obtained. As Sn concentration increased, dielectric loss decreased untill a composition of x 1⁄4 0:15 and slightly increased as Sn concentration increased further. The diffused phase transition appeared owing to substitution of Sn ions....

Over the last century a number of techniques have been developed which allow the measurement of the dielectric properties of biological particles in fluid suspension. The majority of these techniques are limited by the fact that they only provide an average value for the dielectric properties of a collection of particles. More recently, with the advent of microfabrication techniques and the Lab...

The capacitance and leakage current properties of multilayer La2O3/Al2O3 dielectric stacks and LaAlO3 dielectric film are investigated in this paper. A clear promotion of capacitance properties is observed for multilayer La2O3/Al2O3 stacks after post-deposition annealing (PDA) at 800 °C compared with PDA at 600 °C, which indicated the recombination of defects and dangling bonds performs better ...

Material dielectric properties are important for understanding their response to microwaves. Carbonaceous materials are considered good microwave absorbers and can be mixed with dry biomasses, which are otherwise low-loss materials, to improve the heating efficiency of biomass feedstocks. In this study, dielectric properties of pulverized biomass and biochar mixtures are presented from 0.5 GHz ...

The paper discusses fabrication of homogenous and heterogeneous breast phantoms to simulate the dielectric properties of human breast over the microwave frequency range from 0.5GHz to 13.5GHz. The breast phantoms have stable mechanical configuration and dielectric properties suitable for microwave imaging experiments particularly ultra-wideband microwave imaging for breast cancer detection.

The last decade has witnessed significant improvement in the area of nanofillers on electrical, thermal and mechanical properties of polymeric materials. The dielectric and thermal properties of standard enamel and various nanofiller mixed enamel were detailed and analyzed. Nanopowders of ZrO2, Al2O3 and CNT were used as filler. Ball Mill was used to synthesize nanofillers of ZrO2 and Al2O3. CN...

In order to investigate the effect of a medium with dissipation and dispersion and also the curvature of the physical space on the properties of the incident quantum states, we use the quantization of electromagnetic field based on phenomenological approach to obtain input-output relations between radiations on both sides of dielectric slab. By using these relations the fidelity, the Wigner fun...

Thermally stable, durable, insulative polyimides are in great demand for the fabrication of microelectronic devices. In this investigation dielectric and optical properties have been studied for several series of aromatic polyimides. The effect of polarizability, fluorine content, and free volume on dielectric constant was examined. In general, minimizing polarizability, maximizing free volume ...

The "hard" paraelectrics as a material with a high dielectric constant and low loss at microwave frequencies are considered. The impact of different types of polarization on the dielectric and thermal properties of paraelectric is described. The tetragonal rutile structure is considered and the influence of the oxygen octahedrons TiO6 on the dielectric constant of the paraelectric is establishe...
