Enteric fever prevails as a major public health problem despite the use of antimicrobials due to the emergence of drug resistance. The present study was undertaken to find out the antimicrobial susceptibility pattern of Salmonella isolates from our region. Antimicrobial susceptibility testing for six drugs chloramphenicol (30μg), amoxicillin (10μg), cotrimoxazole (1.25/23.75μg), nalidixic acid ...

4′,5,7-Trihydroxy-3′-prenylflavanone was synthesized and tested for antibacterial effects against Bacillus subtilis, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The synthesized compounds were characterized using UV, IR, MS and 1H and 13C NMR data. The antibacterial screening of the synthesized compounds were performed in vitro by the filter paper disc diffusion method.

A total of 49 Aeromonas isolates obtained from food animals and immunocompromised human cancer patients from Nagpur, were investigated for antibiotic sensitivity pattern by disc diffusion method. Aeromonas spp. exhibited different level of antibiotic sensitivity based on the zone of inhibition observed around the antibiotic disc. Most of the isolates exhibited highest sensitivity towards ceftaz...

Bacteriostatic efficacy of 16 crude extracts derived from different parts of Argemone mexicana Linn. (Papaveraceae) has been analyzed on enteropathogenic bacteria such as Klebsiella oxytoca, Vibrio damsella, Enterobacter aerogenes and Escherichia coli. The bacteriostatic efficacy was elucidated using single disc diffusion method. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of the extracts showin...

ESBLs are now a problem in hospitalized patients throughout the world. The prevalence of ESBLs among clinical isola tes varies greatly worldwide and in geographic areas and are rapidly changing over time. A total of 81 isolates of Enterobacteriaceae ESBLS, have been chosen in order to confirm ESBL-producing isolates, this confirmation was done by inhibitor potentiated disc diffusion test. Of th...
