Most genes have multiple polyadenylation sites (PAS), which are often selected in a tissue-specific manner, altering protein products and affecting mRNA stability, subcellular localization and/or translability. Here we studied the polyadenylation mechanisms associated to the beta-adducin gene (Add2). We have previously shown that the Add2 gene has a very tight regulation of alternative polyaden...

The Dyson-Schwinger equation (DSE) approach to non-perturbative QCD modeling provides semi-phenomenological gluon and quark two-point functions that have proved to be quite efficient in describing and predicting the physics of low-mass mesons . To outline the basis of such efforts, consider the fullydressed and renormalized quark propagator defined by the Dyson-Schwinger equation (DSE) in Eucli...

We benchmark the dynamical simplex evolution (DSE) method with several of the currently available algorithms to detect communities in complex networks by comparing correctly identified nodes for different levels of "fuzziness" of random networks composed of well-defined communities. The potential benefits of the DSE method to detect hierarchical substructures in complex networks are discussed.

The process of achieving high structural coverage of the program under test can be automated using Dynamic Symbolic Execution (DSE), which generates test inputs to iteratively explore paths of the program under test. When applied on real-world applications, DSE faces various challenges in generating test inputs to achieve high structural coverage. Among issues related to these challenges, our p...

BACKGROUND Severe obesity is associated with an increased risk of coronary artery disease (CAD). Bariatric surgery is an effective procedure for long term weight management as well as reduction of comorbidities. Preoperative evaluation of cardiac operative risk may often be necessary but unfortunately standard imaging techniques are often suboptimal in these subjects. The purpose of this study ...

Dark septate endophytic (DSE) fungi are facultative biotrophs that associate with hundreds of plant species, contributing to their growth. These fungi may therefore aid in the search for sustainable agricultural practices. However, several ecological functions of DSE fungi need further clarification. The present study investigated the effects of DSE fungi inoculation on nutrient recovery effici...

BACKGROUND Incorporation of analysis of coronary velocities in stress studies adds diagnostic value to both clinical variables and dobutamine echocardiography. Micorcirculatory abnormalities may precede obstructive corornary disease. Therefore the aim of this study was to assess Doppler derived coronary velocity and flow of the left anterior descending coronary artery (LAD) during dobutamine st...

OBJECTIVE The effectiveness of intentional weight loss in reducing cardiovascular disease (CVD) events in type 2 diabetes is unknown. This report describes 1-year changes in CVD risk factors in a trial designed to examine the long-term effects of an intensive lifestyle intervention on the incidence of major CVD events. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS This study consisted of a multicentered, rando...

This paper presents the method of domain knowledge extracting in NChiql, a Chinese natural language interface to databases. After describing the overall extracting strategy in NChiql, we mainly discuss the basic semantic information extracting method, called DSE. A semantic conceptual graph is employed to specify two types of modification and three types of verbal relationship among the entitie...
