For a graph $G$ with edge set $E(G)$, the multiplicative sum Zagreb index of $G$ is defined as$Pi^*(G)=Pi_{uvin E(G)}[d_G(u)+d_G(v)]$, where $d_G(v)$ is the degree of vertex $v$ in $G$.In this paper, we first introduce some graph transformations that decreasethis index. In application, we identify the fourteen class of trees, with the first through fourteenth smallest multiplicative sum Zagreb ...

we give a new recursive method to compute the number of cliques and cycles of a graph. this method is related, respectively to the number of disjoint cliques in the complement graph and to the sum of permanent function over all principal minors of the adjacency matrix of the graph. in particular, let $g$ be a graph and let $overline {g}$ be its complement, then given the chromatic polynomial of...

This article provides structural characterization of simple graphs whose edge-set can be partitioned into maximum matchings. We use Vizing’s classification of simple graphs based on edge chromatic index.

We present a detailed motivation for the notions of the chromatic derivatives and the chromatic expansions. The chromatic derivatives are special, numerically robust linear differential operators. The chromatic expansions are the associated local expansions, which possess features of both the Taylor and the Nyquist expansions. We give simplified treatment of some of the basic properties of the ...

Answering a question of Kalai and Meshulam, we prove that graphs without induced cycles of length 3k have bounded chromatic number. This implies the very first case of a much broader question asserting that every graph with large chromatic number induces a graph H such that the sum of the Betti numbers of the independence complex of H is also large.

The edge Szeged index is a new molecular structure descriptor equal to the sum of products mu(e)mv(e) over all edges e = uv of the molecular graph G, where mu(e) is the number of edges which its distance to vertex u is smaller than the distance to vertex v, and nv(e) is defined analogously. In this paper, the edge Szeged index of one-pentagonal carbon nanocone CNC5[n] is computed for the first ...

In this paper we show upper bounds for the sum and the product of the lower domination parameters and the chromatic index of a graph. We also present some families of graphs for which these upper bounds are achieved. Next, we give a lower bound for the sum of the upper domination parameters and the chromatic index. This lower bound is a function of the number of vertices of a graph and a new gr...

Difference patterns are vital for the successful function of tracking radar employing monopulse techniques to estimate target direction. Traditional monopulse antenna pattern synthesis methods require the use of two independent distributions, e.g., Taylor and Bayliss distributions, for formation of sum and difference patterns for one antenna. Hence, these approaches require a feed network of co...

We study edge coloring games defining the so-called game chromatic index of a graph. It has been reported that the game chromatic index of trees with maximum degree ∆ = 3 is at most ∆ + 1. We show that the same holds true in case ∆ ≥ 6, which would leave only the cases ∆ = 4 and ∆ = 5 open.
