Composite films of chemically converted graphene (CCG) and water-soluble polythiophenes (P3TOPS and P3TOPA) were prepared by a LBL method using a suspension of negatively charged CCG-P3TOPS sheets and a solution of positively charged P3TOPA. The composite films show enhanced photoresponse due to photoinduced electron transfer from the polythiophenes to CCG.
Silica nanoparticle/mesoporous silica composite films were prepared by direct mixing with mechanical stirring and thermal imidization. The structural morphology was elucidated by scanning electron microscopy and the surface of the film was imaged by atomic force microscopy. The functional groups and desorption process of the films were elucidated by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and t...
The aim of the present work was to evaluate the efficacy of Na-alginate edible films as vehicles for delivering probiotic bacteria to sliced ham with or without pretreatment using high pressure processing (HPP). Three strains of probiotic bacteria were incorporated in Na-alginate forming solution. Ham slices (with or without pretreatment using HPP at 500 MPa for 2 min) were packed under vacuum ...
Objective of the present study is to investigate the effect of coated edible films with chitosan solutions enriched with essential oil (EO) on the chemical, microbial and sensory properties of Kashar cheese during ripening time. Generally, no differences were found in total aerobic mesophilic bacteria, streptococci and lactoccocci counts among cheeses but these microorganism counts increased du...
The aim of the present study is to develop a novel biomaterial from natural resources which can be used for various biomedical applications. In this work, composite films containing soya protein (SY) and sago starch (SG) were prepared by solvent casting methodology; these films were cross linked with glutaraldehyde to improve their mechanical properties. The films prepared were characterized fo...
Thickness mode piezoelectric micro-electromechanical system (MEMS) ultrasound transducers, operating in the 50-75 MHz range, have been fabricated using a composite sol gel technique in combination with wet etching. The composite sol gel technique involves producing a PZT powder/sol composite slurry, which when spun down yields films a few micrometers thick. Repeated layering, and infiltration, ...
Fresh-cut fruit is highly perishable due to damage its external protective skin leading the acceleration of chemical and biochemical activities, respiration rate, ethylene production, texture softening moisture loss. Edible films coatings can provide effective barrier properties control transpiration produce. Sodium alginate ginger oil have been successfully employed as coating materials in sev...
The purpose of this work was to evaluate chitosan edible films (CH) incorporated with maqui berry extracts (MB) for (i) the inhibition growth of some bacterial strains (ii) their total phenolic (TPC) and total flavonoid content and (iii) their antioxidant activity to define if the chitosan edible films incorporated with maqui berry extract (CH þ MB) could be used as natural active films for foo...
Novel chitosan-zinc copper oxide (Zn1-xCuxO) composites were electrochemically synthesized through galvanostatic deposition. The prepared chitosan-based composite thin films were elaborately investigated to determine their structural, morphological, compositional, impedance, and corrosion properties. X-ray diffraction analysis was performed to reveal their structural orientation of composite th...
Single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) have shown interesting bolometric properties, making them good candidates for the detection of infrared and terahertz radiation. However, little has been reported on the bolometric characteristics of SWNT as a function of their chirality or the possible influence of composite morphology on these properties. The separation of SWNTs based on chirality allows...
