A bstract Hadronic matrix elements of local four-quark operators play a central role in non-leptonic kaon decays, while vacuum involving the same kind appear inclusive dispersion relations, such as those relevant τ -decay analyses. Using an SU(3) L ⊗ R decomposition operators, we derive generic relations between these elements, extending well-known results that link observables two different se...

Status of experimental measurements of b → s(d) γ, b → s ll, and b → s νν̄ is reviewed. Future prospects are discussed. To be published in the Proceedings of the Seventh International Symposium on Heavy Flavor Physics, University of California, Santa Barbara, California, July 7-11, 1997.

We analyse the B → Kπ decays using the factorisation model with final state interaction phase shift included. We find that factorisation seems to describe qualitatively the latest CLEO data. For a test of the factorisation model, we derive a relation for the branching ratios independent of the strength of the strong penguin interactions. This relation gives a central value of (0.60×10−5) for B(...

BACKGROUND Penguins are flightless aquatic birds widely distributed in the Southern Hemisphere. The distinctive morphological and physiological features of penguins allow them to live an aquatic life, and some of them have successfully adapted to the hostile environments in Antarctica. To study the phylogenetic and population history of penguins and the molecular basis of their adaptations to A...

Penguin feathers are highly modified in form and function, but there have been no fossils to inform their evolution. A giant penguin with feathers was recovered from the late Eocene (~36 million years ago) of Peru. The fossil reveals that key feathering features, including undifferentiated primary wing feathers and broad body contour feather shafts, evolved early in the penguin lineage. Analyse...

The Standard Model (SM) predicts that $\Delta A_{\rm CP}$, the difference between direct CP asymmetries for modes $B^+\to \pi^0 K^+$ and $B^0\to \pi^- are related by weak isospin, should be close to zero. There has been a recent claim LHCb Collaboration measured value of CP}$ shows an uncomfortable tension with SM prediction, almost at $8\sigma$ level. Motivated this claim, we critically re-exa...
