In this paper we propose a way of determining the subleading corrections to the BekensteinHawking black hole entropy by considering a modified generalized uncertainty principle with two parameters. In the context of modified generalized uncertainty principle, coefficients of the correction terms of black hole entropy are written in terms of combination of the parameters. We also calculate corre...

At the heart of many ICA techniques is a nonparametric estimate of an information measure, usually via nonparametric density estimation, for example, kernel density estimation. While not as popular as kernel density estimators, orthogonal functions can be used for nonparametric density estimation (via a truncated series expansion whose coefficients are calculated from the observed data). While ...

The supersymmetric flow equations describing the flow of moduli from infinity to the black hole horizon, and vice versa, are derived in the five-dimensional theories where the moduli space of the very special geometry has disjoint branches. The multiple solutions are derived from the ‘off the horizon’ attractor equation. Within each branch, the black hole entropy, as usual, depends only on the ...

Abstract: Mixture models are in high demand for machine-learning analysis due to their computational tractability, and because they serve as a good approximation for continuous densities. Predominantly, entropy applications have been developed in the context of a mixture of normal densities. In this paper, we consider a novel class of skew-normal mixture models, whose components capture skewnes...

Programmers are often required to develop in multiple languages. In an effort to study the effects of programming language fragmentation on productivity—and ultimately on a programmer’s problem solving abilities—we propose a metric, language entropy, for characterizing the distribution of an individual’s development efforts across multiple programming languages. To evaluate this metric, we pres...

Let a be a mixing topological Markov shift, À a weak Perron number, q(t) a polynomial with nonnegative integer coefficients, and r a nonnegative rational. We construct a homeomorphism commuting with o whose topological entropy is \o%\q(\)q(l/\)}r. These values are shown to include the logarithms of all weak Perron numbers, and are dense in the nonnegative reals.

For lattice Boltzmann methods based on entropy functions, we derive a collision integral which enables simple identification of transport coefficients, and which circumvents construction of the equilibrium. Implementation of the two-dimensional hydrodynamics demonstrates considerable increase of stability with respect to conventional lattice Boltzmann schemes.

We study free electrons on an infinite half-filled chain, starting in the ground state with a bond defect. We find a logarithmic increase of the entanglement entropy after the defect is removed, followed by a slow relaxation towards the value of the homogeneous chain. The coefficients depend continuously on the defect strength.

In this paper, we propose a new feature selection method for hyperspectral images. Firstly, the bands are selected by combining the information entropy, classification separability and correlation coefficients with the Choquet fuzzy integral. After that, maximum likelihood classification method is used for the classification. Experiments on the AVIRIS dataset show that the proposed method remov...

We report on a technique for the radar ship signal extraction from contaminated sea clutter. Group normalization (GN) is presented to overcome that conventional wavelet packet coefficients not appropriately represent the strength of signal. The l entropy is extended to l one to improve the performance. The symmetric, complex wavelet packets are used for radar signal processing.
