The risk of active tuberculosis is high in solid-organ recipients. We evaluated the clinical presentation of tuberculosis. Pulmonary locations were the most frequent, and extrapulmonary locations were rarely seen. Among extrapulmonary sites, intracranial tuberculosis is rare, with a few case reports reported in the literature. We report a case of 27-year-old man, who received deceased-donor liv...
Introduction: Extrapulmonary Tuberculosis (EPTB) accounts for about15 to 20% of all cases of Tuberculosis in India.1e percentage may be higher in children and in HIV infected individuals.2 Diagnosing EPTB is challenging as it requires a clinician to obtain adequate specimen involving the concerned organ for investigations to confirm diagnosis. Also paucibacillary nature of the disease poses di...
Application of real-time PCR for the detection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis enables results to be obtained in about 2 h. A total of 340 nonrespiratory samples were processed using two real-time PCR assay kits: Xpert MTB/RIF and Cobas TaqMan MTB. The sensitivity and specificity of the Xpert assay were 95% and 100%, respectively, compared to 78% and 98% for the Cobas assay.
Diagnostic testing for tuberculosis has remained unchanged for nearly a century, but newer technologies hold the promise of a true revolution in tuberculosis diagnostics. New tests may well supplant the tuberculin skin test in diagnosing latent tuberculosis infection in much of the world. Tests such as the nucleic acid amplification assays allow more rapid and accurate diagnosing of pulmonary a...
Tuberculosis is a disease with myriad presentations and manifestations; it can affect any organ or tissue, excluding only hair and nails. Doctors who are not familiar with extrapulmonary tuberculosis often overlook this disease. Urogenital tuberculosis (UGTB) is the second most common form of TB in countries with severe epidemic situation and the third most common form in regions with low incid...

Tuberculosis (TB) remains one of the major global causes death; Mycobacterium it. Approximately 10% patients with TB may develop extrapulmonary bone tuberculosis, spine being most affected, representing 1 to 2% all cases. Pott disease is a form TB, and recently it has shown significant resurgence in developed nations possibly impacted by migration. often misdiagnosed or sometimes diagnosed duri...
INTRODUCTION Tunisia has one of the highest burdens of extrapulmonary tuberculosis (EPTB) among tuberculosis (TB) cases but the contribution of MTBC-mediated human EPTB is unknown. EPTB diagnosis is challenging due to the paucibacillary nature of clinical samples. Therefore, a need of a simplified molecular method for sensitive and specific TB detection and differentiation of MTBC members cause...
Tuberculosis is commonly seen in endemic countries. Cases of primary drug resistance are rare. There a paucity data related to at extrapulmonary sites. Herein, case isoniazid mono-resistant tuberculosis the multiple right cervical lymph nodes presented. This patient reported swellings and discharging sinuses.
