A global defensive (respectively, offensive) alliance in a graph G = (V,E) is a set of vertices S ⊆ V with the properties that every vertex in V − S has at least one neighbor in S, and for each vertex v in S (respectively, in V − S) at least half the vertices from the closed neighborhood of v are in S. These alliances are called strong if a strict majority of vertices from the closed neighborho...
The subjects of the study were 112 patients with rheumatic polymyalgia (RPM) and giant-cell arteritis (GSA). The study shows that RPM and GSA are complicated by cerebral flow disturbances and myocardial infarction. Therapy with prednisolone and non-steroid antiinflammatory drugs reduces the risk of these complications and lethal outcome in patients with RPM and GSA.
A great abundance of rural houses lacking design guidance exists in the cold regions China, often accompanied by huge energy loss. Particularly, a courtyard-style dwelling (CSD) has more complex and diverse building elements than common house, rendering optimization extremely costly. Sensitivity analysis (SA) can screen significant parameters consumption for prediction optimization. In this pap...
Given a graph G = (V,E) with a positive weight function w on the vertices of G, a global powerful alliance of G is a subset S of V such that for every vertex v at least half of the total weight in the closed neighborhood of v is contributed by the vertices of S. Finding the smallest such set in general graphs is NP-complete, even when the weights are all the same. In this paper, we give a linea...
Child mortality has decreased substantially globally-from 12.6 million in 1990 to 6.3 million in 2013-due, in large part to of governments' and organisations' work, to prevent pneumonia, diarrhoea and malaria, the main causes of death in the postneonatal period. In 2012, the World Health Assembly adopted the Decade of Vaccines Global Vaccine Action Plan 2011-2020 as the current framework aimed ...
BACKGROUND As yet, the relation between personality traits and working alliance has not been investigated in subjects affected by Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). METHOD A sample of forty-nine BPD subjects who completed a module of Sequential Brief Adlerian Psychodynamic Psychotherapy (SB-APP) of 40 sessions has been recruited. Before the onset of psychotherapy an assessment was made wi...
Gravitropism plays a critical role in plant growth and development, plant stability and acclimation to changes in water and nutrient availability. Ammonium (NH4(+)) is well known to have profound effects on root growth, but its impacts on gravitropism are poorly understood. To determine which genes are essential for the maintenance of root gravitropism under NH4(+) stress, we isolated and ident...
A study has been made of the means by which light influences the gravitropic set-point angle (GSA) of the nodes of Tradescantia and the hypocotyls of the lazy-2 mutant of tomato. In light-grown Tradescantia there is a light-regulated developmental change in the GSA with the magnitude of this change being dependent on the photon flux density of white light. The photosynthetic inhibitor DCMU abol...
This study was conducted to determine uterine echogenicity by grey-scale analysis (GSA) and transcutaneous ultrasonography in pregnant sows (P-sows; n=16) and gilts (P-gilts; n=13) vs. cyclic gilts (C-gilts; n=9) between days 8 and 16 post ovulation (po) with the aims of testing for feasibility of uterine GSA and of gathering reference data. Estruses and ovulations were hormonally synchronized ...
