We show how quark-hadron duality can emerge for valence spin averaged structure functions, and for the non-forward distributions of Deeply Virtual Compton Scattering. Novel factorisations of the non-forward amplitudes are proposed. Some implications for large angle scattering and deviations from the quark counting rules are illustrated. M. WOBISCH III. Physikalisches Institut, RWTH Aachen, D-52056 Aachen, Germany, E-mail: [email protected] Various QCD studies based on jet observables in hadronic nal states in deep-inelastic scattering and in hadron-hadron collisions are presented. Measured quantities are event shape variables, jet rates and jet cross sections. QCD analyses have been performed to determine the value of the...
Solving the BKP equation and comparing with the structure function of hadron for deep inelastic scattering processes we are able to find a relation between reggeizedN−gluon states and anomalous dimensions of QCD. To this end we perform analytical continuation of the Reggeon energy and compare exponents of two different twist-series expansions for the hadron structure function. This makes possib...
A large data set of charged-pion (pi+/-) electroproduction from both hydrogen and deuterium targets has been obtained spanning the low-energy residual-mass region. These data conclusively show the onset of the quark-hadron duality phenomenon, as predicted for high-energy hadron electroproduction. We construct several ratios from these data to exhibit the relation of this phenomenon to the high-...
HERWIG is a general-purpose Monte Carlo event generator, which includes the simulation of hard lepton-lepton, lepton-hadron and hadron-hadron scattering and soft hadron-hadron collisions in one package. It uses the parton-shower approach for initialand nal-state QCD radiation, including colour coherence e ects and azimuthal correlations both within and between jets. This article updates the des...
We have used YFS Monte Carlo techniques to obtain per-mil level accuracy for the Bhabha scattering cross section used in the luminosity monitor in electro-weak scattering experiments. We will describe techniques for extending these methods for use in the W production luminosity cross section for hadron colliders.
In this talk I want to illustrate the many possibilities for studying the structure of hadrons in hard scattering processes by giving a number of examples involving increasing complexity in the demands for particle polarization, particle identification or polarimetry. In particular the single spin asymmetries will be discussed. The measurements discussed in this talk are restricted to lepton-ha...
The 2-quark back-angle scattering mechanism is shown to reproduce main features of high-energy hh flavor-exchange reactions. Prospects for reduction of the reaction matrix element to a form of convolution of hadron wave functions with the hard scattering kernel are discussed. Wave function models suitable for convolution with the kernel, which is singular at small x, and the emerging form-facto...
Elastic and inelastic cross sections of proton-proton and electron-proton scattering are discussed. Special attention is given to elastic scattering and to the striking difference between the data of these two kinds of experiments. It is shown that the regular charge-monopole theory explains the main features of the data. Predictions of results of CERN's Large Hadron Collider are pointed out.
A new method for the determination of the real part of the elastic scattering amplitude is examined for high energy proton-proton and proton-nuclei elastic scattering at small momentum transfer. This method allows us to decrease the number of model assumptions, to obtain the real part in a narrow region of momentum transfer and to test different models for hadron-nuclei scattering. ∗Unité de Re...
