This article is focused on the numerical analysis of the hard rock (ore) disintegration process (continuation of the firstly article published in this Journal, see [3]). The bit moves and sinks into the hard rock (mechanical contact with friction between the ore and the cutting bit) and subsequently disintegrates it. The disintegration (i.e. stress-strain relationship, contact forces, reaction ...
In this paper, we address the problem of separation of mutually independent sources in nonlinear mixtures. First, we propose theoretical results and prove that in the general case, it is not possible to separate the sources without nonlinear distortion. Therefore, we focus our work on specific nonlinear mixtures known as post-nonlinear mixtures. These mixtures constituted by a linear instantane...
An interferometric technique for measuring with picosecond resolution the time evolution of the real and imaginary components of optical nonlinearities in channel waveguides is described. Characteristics of the technique are illustrated with measurements of band-filling optical nonlinearities in CdS(x)Se(1-x)-doped glass channel waveguides.
A class of q-nonlinear parabolic systems with a nondiagonal principal matrix and strong nonlinearities in the gradient is considered. We discuss the global in time solvability results of the classical initial boundary value problems in the case of two spatial variables. The systems with nonlinearities q ∈ (1, 2), q = 2, q > 2, are analyzed.
This paper is concerned with continuous-time nonlinear risk-sensitive lters. It is shown that for large classes of nonlinearities entering both the dynamics and measurements, these lters are nite-dimensional, generalizations of the Benes 1] lters. Examples are given for rational and exponential nonlinearities. The small-noise limiting analog is discussed.
We investigate properties of dark solitons under competing nonlocal cubic-local quintic nonlinearities. Analytical results, based on a variational approach and confirmed by direct numerical simulations, reveal the existence of a unique dark soliton solutions with their width being independent of the degree of nonlocality, due to the competing cubic-quintic nonlinearities.
In this paper we consider the problem of stabilizing continuous-time linear systems containing input nonlinearities and time delays. Specifically, a fixed-order (i.e., fulland reduced-order) dynamic output feedback control technique is proposed and sufficient conditions involving a closed-loop modified Riccati equation is presented for stabilization of systems with sector bounded input nonlinea...
