With the recent rediscovery of slowand fast-light effects, there has been much interest in pulse propagation phenomena that lead to apparently superluminal pulse transmission. This raises immediate questions about causality and special relativity violations and elicits curiosity about the physical mechanisms responsible for these effects. This thesis will address these issues theoretically and ...
We present a boundary control law that stabilizes the Hartman profile for low magnetic Reynolds numbers in an infinite magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) channel flow. The proposed control law achieves stability in the L2 norm of the linearized MHD equations, guaranteeing local stability for the fully nonlinear system. © 2008 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Using the time parameter in time-dependent Schr\"odinger equation, we study of flight for a particle tunneling through square barrier potential. Comparing mean and variance energy transmitted reflected particles, using both density flux distributions, find that, when accounting momentum filtering, suitably normalized distributions are identical cases. In contrast to previous studies, demonstrat...
In forest carbon accounting and policy assessment at the micro level, inconsistencies, even confusion, abound regarding how timber are treated as joint products, whether Paris Agreement principles of additionality permanence followed, if differentiated composition duration harvested wood products (HWPs) captured. Here, we tackle these issues with two widely used alternative analytic frameworks....
A general relation between the group delay and the dwell time is derived for quantum tunneling. It is shown that the group delay is equal to the dwell time plus a self-interference delay. The Hartman effect in quantum tunneling is explained on the basis of saturation of the integrated probability density (or number of particles) under the barrier.
We establish Hartman-Wintner type criteria for the half-linear second order differential equation ( r(t)Φ(x′) )′ + c(t)Φ(x) = 0, Φ(x) = |x|x, p > 1, where this equation is viewed as a perturbation of another equation of the same form.
The second order linear differential equation (p(x)y′)′ + q(x)y = 0 , x ∈ (0, x0] is considered, where p, q ∈ C1(0, x0], p(x) > 0, q(x) > 0 for x ∈ (0, x0]. Sufficient conditions are established for every nontrivial solutions to be nonrectifiable oscillatory near x = 0 without the Hartman–Wintner condition.
