We describe a first-and-second-diffractive-order intraocular lens ((1st,2nd)DIOL) within the class of hybrid refractive-diffractive designs for intraocular lenses (IOLs) and analyse its properties of focus extension and compensation of longitudinal chromatic aberration (LCA), particularly for lenses with low addition. Power, energy efficiency and their wavelength dependence are extended from mo...
purpose: to report the development of cataract after corneal damage by dungle beetle prongs. case report: a 28 year-old man, resident of the village chah setareh, sabzevar, presented complaining of trauma to the right eye with the dangle beetle while motorcycling. slit lamp examination revealed six corneal perforations, hyphema (50% of anterior chamber) percent, iris sphincter rupture, and rupt...
BACKGROUND To report the diagnostic features and management strategy of a rare case of Weill-Marchesani syndrome with advanced glaucoma and corneal endothelial dysfunction. CASE PRESENTATION A patient presented with advanced glaucoma with an intraocular pressure of 49 mmHg in the left eye, and subsequently received trabeculectomy to control the intraocular pressure. Surprisingly, slit lamp ex...
We studied the spherical aberration of an intraocular lens, using third-order theory, ray tracing, and bench measurements by the Ronchi test. Good agreement was obtained for these three methods of investigation. In particular we found that the Ronchi test is an accurate method for quantifying this aberration.
The appearance of images through a multifocal intraocular lens (IOL) was simulated. The optical transfer function (OTF) of a model eye containing the multifocal lens was measured and divided by the OTF of the model eye with a monofocal IOL. This ratio was used to filter digital images, generating simulations that represent the retinal images seen through a multifocal intraocular lens when viewe...
We report three cases of extracapsular cataract extraction with intraocular lens implantation in two patients with anterior megalophthalmus. This is the first report, to our knowledge, of intraocular lens implantation in this rare condition.
Current Opinion in Ophthalmology 2008, 19:357–362 Purpose of review Corneal refractive procedures have become increasingly popular over the past decade allowing patients to have excellent uncorrected visual acuity and spectacle independence. As these individuals mature, many will eventually undergo cataract surgery. With the advances in modern cataract surgery and lens implant technology, parti...
