INTRODUCTION Intra-articular injections of platelet rich plasma (PRP) for the treatment of knee osteoarthritis have been shown to reduce pain and improve joint function. The aim of this study is to examine the joint function by adding intra-articular growth hormone to platelet rich plasma. This study was performed on the individuals with knee osteoarthritis and under ultrasound guidance. METH...

The number of total knee arthroplasties (TKA) performed is around two million annually worldwide and this number is expected to increase fivefold by 2025. The most common indication is osteoarthritis of the knee. Blood loss is significant during the post-operative period and blood transfusion when necessary has its own drawbacks. The use of intravenous tranexamic acid has significantly reduced ...

BACKGROUND Of all distal radius fractures, 25 % are complete articular fractures (AO/OTA type C fractures). Two thirds of those fractures are displaced and require reduction. According to several International Guidelines, adequately reduced intra-articular distal radius fractures are best treated non-operatively with plaster immobilisation, while surgical fixation is suggested only when the art...

Two cases of arthroscopic retrieval of intra-articular shoulder pathology are presented. With this technique, areas that are often difficult to expose in an open fashion and those previously deemed inaccessible arthroscopically are localized readily. In the setting of intra-articular pathology, thought should be given to the possibility of arthroscopic retrieval or excision before proceeding wi...

INTRODUCTION Animal models currently used in osteoarthritis-associated pain research inadequately reproduce the initiating events and structural pathology of human osteoarthritis. Conversely, intra-articular injection of collagenase is a structurally relevant model, as it induces articular degeneration both by digesting collagen from cartilage and by causing articular instability, thereby repro...

We investigated 15 patients with painful hip arthroplasties using intra-articular injection of bupivicaine. Fourteen had pain relief and 13 of them were subsequently found to have loosening of one or both components. The relief of pain after total hip arthroplasty by intra-articular injection of bupivicaine indicates that a satisfactory result is probable after revision surgery with refixation ...

A case of Cushing's syndrome after long term intra-articular corticosteroid injections is described. Prolonged suppression of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis occurred as assessed by an insulin tolerance test 11 weeks after the last intra-articular injection. Replacement steroid therapy was required.

We describe a case of septic arthritis caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa in an immunocompetent patient following intra-articular ozone injection into the knee. To the best of our knowledge, and after considering the current literature,we believe this case is unique as no other reports of septic arthritis caused by P. aeruginosa following intra-articular ozone injection has been made.

Postoperative pain, which has been attributed to poor outcomes after total knee arthroplasty (TKA), remains problematic for many patients. Although the source of TKA pain can often be delineated, establishing a precise diagnosis can be challenging. It is often classified as intra-articular or extra-articular pain, depending on etiology. After intra-articular causes, such as instability, aseptic...
