background and aims: infectious mononucleosis (im)is the clinical manifestation of primary infection with epstein-barr virus (ebv). humans are the only known reservoir of ebv. regarding the problems in diagnosis of the disease, the purpose of this study was to assess enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (elisa) and nested polymerase chain reaction (pcr) as a diagnostic tool for this disease. mater...
Let $ H$ be a Hilbert space and $C$ be a closed, convex and nonempty subset of $H$. Let $T:C rightarrow H$ be a non-self and non-expansive mapping. V. Colao and G. Marino with particular choice of the sequence ${alpha_{n}}$ in Krasonselskii-Mann algorithm, ${x}_{n+1}={alpha}_{n}{x}_{n}+(1-{alpha}_{n})T({x}_{n}),$ proved both weak and strong converging results. In this paper, we generalize thei...
This paper deals with scrutinizing the convergence properties of iterative methods to solve linear system of equations. Recently, several types of the preconditioners have been applied for ameliorating the rate of convergence of the Accelerated Overrelaxation (AOR) method. In this paper, we study the applicability of a general class of the preconditioned iterative methods under certain conditio...
There is an ongoing debate about stock return predictability in time-series data. Campbell (1987) and Fama and French (1989), among many others, find that macro variables such as the dividend yield, the default premium, the term premium, and the shortterm interest rate forecast excess stock market returns. However, Bossaerts and Hillion (1999), Ang and Bekaert (2001), and Goyal and Welch (2003)...
A generation ago, the ef cient market hypothesis was widely accepted by academic nancial economists; for example, see Eugene Fama’s (1970) in uential survey article, “Ef cient Capital Markets.” It was generally believed that securities markets were extremely ef cient in re ecting information about individual stocks and about the stock market as a whole. The accepted view was that when in...
All normalized totally positive bases satisfy the progressive iterative approximation property. The normalized B-basis has optimal shape preserving properties and we prove that it satisfies the progressive iterative approximation property with the fastest convergence rates. A similar result for tensor product surfaces is also derived. © 2006 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
