We achieved a 0.2nm linewidth output at 1178nm with powers up to 6.4W in a linear 80m Bismuth-doped fiber cavity pumped by a 55W Yb fibre laser. The potential of frequency doubling of the non-polarized output at 1178nm in MgO doped periodically poled lithium niobate was demonstrated and resulted in 125mW average power at 589nm. The approach can be extended to a linearly-polarized large mode are...

We report Cu and La nuclear magnetic resonance measurements in the title compound that reveal an inhomogeneous glassy behavior of the spin dynamics. A low temperature peak in the La spin lattice relaxation rate and the "wipeout" of Cu intensity both arise from these slow electronic spin fluctuations that reveal a distribution of activation energies. Inhomogeneous slowing of spin fluctuations ap...

The magnetic properties and electronic structures of pure, doped and defective cerium oxide (CeO2) have been studied theoretically by means of ab initio calculations based on the density function theory (DFT) with the hybrid HF/DFT technique named PBE0. Carbon (C), nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), sulphur (S), lanthanum (La) and praseodymium (Pr) doped in CeO2 and CeO2 containing oxygen vacancies ...

A self-calibrating method is described for measuring the radiative quantum efficiency (QE) in doped optical fibers. The method uses an integrating sphere to collect the fluorescence from the fiber, with pump light transmitted through the fiber end serving as a reference. QE measurements for a 780 or 808 nm pump were made on bismuth-doped AlGeP-silica fibers prepared by aerosol deposition. For b...
