Abstract Background Spiroplasma citri comprises a bacterial complex that cause diseases in citrus, horseradish, carrot, sesame, and also infects wide array of ornamental weed species. S. is transmitted persistent propagative manner by the beet leafhopper, Neoaliturus tenellus North America Circulifer haematoceps Mediterranean region. Leafhopper transmission pathogen’s host range serve as driver...
"Candidatus Sulcia muelleri" is a symbiont of sap-feeding insects in the suborder Auchenorrhyncha. The strain "Ca. Sulcia muelleri" ML is associated with the maize leafhopper (Dalbulus maidis), collected in Brazil, which is a disease vector that affects corn production. Here, we report the complete genome sequence of this bacterium.
Detailed morphological descriptions and illustrations of five new species of the empoascine leafhopper genus Ishiharella Dworakowska (Typhlocybinae: Emposascini): I. dentidensa Yu & Yang, sp. nov., I. falcata Yu, Yang & Dietrich, sp. nov., I. hirsuta Yu, Yang & Dietrich, sp. nov., I. inflata Yu & Yang, sp. nov. and I. multiprotrusa Yu, Yang & Dietrich, sp. nov. are provided and a key to species...
Leafhopper species Macropsidius duuschulus Dlabola and M. niger Matsumura are recorded for the first time from China. Macropsidius fukangensis (Li et Xu) comb. nov. (from Macropsis) is proposed. A new species, Pediopsis bannaensis sp. nov., is described and illustrated from China and Thailand.
The paper deals with the species of the Oriental leafhopper genus Taperus Li & Wang. A new species, Taperus daozhenensissp. n., from Guizhou Province, China is described and new records for other Chinese species are given together with a key for their separation. The type specimens of the new species are deposited in the Institute of Entomology, Guizhou University (GUGC).
One new leafhopper genus, Circinans, is described with a new species Circinans striata sp. n. as the type species from southern China. Habitus photos and illustrations of male genitalia of this new species are given and differences between the new genus and closely related genera are discussed.
Five new species of the leafhopper genus Drabescus Stål, D. longispinus, D. bifurcatus, D. bicornis, D. wauensis and D. brevispinus, spp. nov., are described and illustrated from Papua New Guinea. A check-list and key to the species from Papua New Guinea are given.
The leafhopper genus Destinoides Cai & He is revised to include two species D. latifrons (Walker 1851, Ledra) n. comb. and D. conspicuus (Distant 1907, Petalocephala) n. comb. Destinoides fasciata Cai & He, 2000 is placed as a junior synonym of D. latifrons, syn. nov. These two species are redescribed and illustrated in detail and a key is given based on the males.
The Chinese leafhopper species of the genus Scaphomonus Viraktamath are reviewed, and one new species Scaphomonus furcatus sp. nov. is described and illustrated. A key is given to distinguish Chinese species of the genus. The type specimens of the new species are deposited in the Institute of Entomology, Guizhou University, Guiyang, China (GUGC).
Cicadella viridis (Hemiptera: Cicadellidae) is an omnivorous leafhopper that feeds on plant sap. It significantly reduces the yield of agricultural and forestry crops while feeding or ovipositing host plant. In recent years, rapid expansion C. has posed a serious threat to crops. To study impact climate change geographical distribution leafhopper, maximum entropy (MaxEnt) model ArcGIS software,...
