Lithium aluminum hydride (LiAlH4) is an interesting high capacity hydrogen storage material with fast hydrogen release kinetics when mechanically activated with additives. Herein, we report on a novel approach to produce nanoscale LiAlH4 via a bottom-up synthesis. Upon further coating of these nanoparticles with Ti, the composite nanomaterial was found to decompose at 120 ◦C in one single and e...

Geochemical, microbiological, and molecular analyses of alkaline saline groundwater at 2.8 kilometers depth in Archaean metabasalt revealed a microbial biome dominated by a single phylotype affiliated with thermophilic sulfate reducers belonging to Firmicutes. These sulfate reducers were sustained by geologically produced sulfate and hydrogen at concentrations sufficient to maintain activities ...

A furan-based hexaazamacrocycle encapsulates a sulfate anion in its cavity showing strong affinity and selectivity for sulfate in water over a wide range of inorganic anions. The DFT calculations demonstrate that the receptor provides binding sites as hydrogen bonding donors and electrostatic positive charges for the strong binding of sulfate.

OBJECTIVES This study was aimed at assessing both stimulated insulinemia and the sodium-lithium countertransport in a selected group of patients with cardiac syndrome X. BACKGROUND Hyperinsulinemia, which is frequently present in patients with cardiac syndrome X, is often associated with an enhanced activity of the sodium-lithium countertransport, an in vitro marker of sodium-hydrogen exchang...

Structural characterization of a sulfate complex with an azamacrocycle suggests that one sulfate is encapsulated in the macrocyclic cavity with eight hydrogen bonds; a significant selectivity of the host was observed for sulfate over halides, nitrate and perchlorate as evaluated by (1)H NMR studies in water.

Structural aspects of the binding of inorganic anions such as perchlorate, hydrogen sulfate, and hexafluorosilicate with the proton cage of octaaminocryptand L(1), N(CH(2)CH(2)NHCH(2)-p-xylyl-CH(2)NHCH(2)CH(2))(3)N), are examined thoroughly. Crystallographic results for a hexaprotonated perchlorate complex of L(1), [(H(6)L(1))(6+)(ClO(4) (-))]5(ClO(4) (-)).11H(2)O.CH(3)CN (1), an octaprotonated...

In the crystal structure of the title salt hydrate, C9H8NO(+)·HSO4 (-)·H2O, the quinoline N-H atoms are hydrogen bonded to the bis-ulfate anions. The bis-ulfate anions and water mol-ecules are linked together by O-H⋯O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions. The cations and anions form separate layers alternating along the c axis, which are linked by N-H⋯O and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds into a two-dimensional...
