Extremely low frequency magnetic fields (ELF-MFs) have been classified as possibly carcinogenic to humans by the International Agency for Research on Cancer. The authors investigated, in a population-based case-control study in Germany, if children whose parents were exposed preconceptionally at work to ELF-MFs had an increased risk of developing cancer. Cases aged 0-14 years were ascertained f...

Background and Objective: Use of extremely low frequency magnetic field) ELF-MF (has been reported in increasing blood sugar, cholesterol, triglyceride and reduction of withdrawal syndrome signs of morphine. Since pain is one of the main considerations and usually analgesic drugs are not very useful and have side effects, therefore, the present project was carried out using formalin test to eva...

target tracking is the tracking of an object in an image sequence. target tracking in image sequence consists of two different parts: 1- moving target detection 2- tracking of moving target. in some of the tracking algorithms these two parts are combined as a single algorithm. the main goal in this thesis is to provide a new framework for effective tracking of different kinds of moving target...

A novel method for the excitation of ELF waves in the ionosphere is presented. It utilizes the nonlinear mixing of two groundor satellite-produced radio frequency waves with a compressional Alfv6n wave. Parametric amplification thresholds are estimated to be between 10 and 20 MW peak power for 5-MHz pumps producing waves in the ELF range. Potential applications to ELF communications are discussed.

The degree of -electron (de)localization and aromaticity of a series of polybenzenoid hydrocarbons (PBHs) has been analyzed through the π-contribution to the electron localization function (ELFπ), calculated at the B3LYP/6-311G(d,p) hybrid density functional theory level. The extent of -electron delocalization in the various hexagons of a PBH was determined through analysis of the bifurcation...

BACKGROUND AND AIMS Liver stiffness measurement (LSM) and FibroTest (FT) are frequently used as non-invasive alternatives for fibrosis staging to liver biopsy. However, to date, diagnostic performances of Enhanced Liver Fibrosis (ELF) test, which consists of hyaluronic acid, aminoterminal propeptide of procollagen type-III, and tissue inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinases-1, have not been comp...

Invasive pulmonary aspergillosis is a life-threatening infection in lung transplant recipients; however, no studies of the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics (PKPD) of echinocandins in transplanted lungs have been reported. We conducted a single-dose prospective study of the intrapulmonary and plasma PKPD of 150 mg of micafungin administered intravenously in 20 adult lung transplant recipien...

Pygopus is a component of the T-cell factor/beta-catenin transcriptional complex essential for activation of Wnt target genes and is also required for cell regulation in the absence of Wnt signaling. Human Pygopus2 (hPygo2) is overexpressed in a high proportion of breast and epithelial ovarian malignant tumors and is required for the growth of several cell lines derived from these carcinomas. T...

OBJECTIVES Appropriate antibiotic exposure at the site of infection is important for clinically effective therapy. This study compared the epithelial lining fluid (ELF) penetration of ceftolozane/tazobactam, which has potent in vitro activity against many Gram-negative pathogens causing nosocomial pneumonia, with that of piperacillin/tazobactam in healthy adult volunteers. METHODS In this Pha...
