The GMRES method is a popular iterative method for the solution of large linear systems of equations with a nonsymmetric nonsingular matrix. This paper discusses application of the GMRES method to the solution of large linear systems of equations that arise from the discretization of linear ill-posed problems. These linear systems are severely ill-conditioned and are referred to as discrete ill...
Additive Schwarz preconditioned GMRES is a powerful method for solving large sparse linear systems of equations on parallel computers. The algorithm is often implemented in the Euclidean norm, or the discrete l norm, however, the optimal convergence result is available only in the energy norm (or the equivalent Sobolev H 1 norm). Very little progress has been made in the theoretical understandi...
The correspondance is established between the sigma models , the minimal surfaces and the Monge-Ampére equation. The Lax-Pairs of the minimality condition of the minimal surfaces and the MongeAmpére equations are given. Existance of infinitely many nonlocal conservation laws is shown and some Backlund transformations are also given.
We determine the minimal covering of maximal partial clones in 4-valued logic. That means a necessary and sufficient condition for partial Sheffer functions in 4-valued logic in terms of the maximal partial clones is established. Furthermore several statements about members of the minimal covering of the maximal partial clones for any finite-valued logic are established.
Adequate sensors are a necessary condition for fault diagnosability. Sensor placement for diagnosis task is to study where to put the sensors so that they are the minimal set to diagnose certain faults. This paper presents a method of sensor placement based on diagnosability analysis using the simulation model in the CAD environment. The fault signature matrix is determined by the projections o...
During visual category learning, full feedback (e.g., "Wrong, that was a category 4."), relative to minimal feedback (e.g., "Wrong."), enhances performance when the relevant dimensions are separable. This pattern is reversed with inseparable dimensions. Here, the interaction between trial-by-trial feedback and separability of dimensions in the auditory domain is examined. Participants were trai...
In this paper, we investigate three problems concerning the toric ideal associated to a matroid. Firstly, we list all matroids M such that its corresponding toric ideal IM is a complete intersection. Secondly, we handle the problem of detecting minors of a matroidM from a minimal set of binomial generators of IM. In particular, given a minimal set of binomial generators of IM we provide a neces...
In this paper a sufficient condition is given for minimal routing in n-dimensional (n-D) meshes with faulty nodes contained in a set of disjoint fault regions. It is based on an early work of the author on minimal routing in low dimension meshes (such as 2-D meshes with faulty blocks). Unlike many traditional models that assume all the nodes know global fault distribution, our approach is based...

Multiplexing samples in sequencing experiments is a common approach to maximize information yield while minimizing cost. In most cases the number of samples that are multiplexed is determined by financial consideration or experimental convenience, with limited understanding on the effects on the experimental results. Here we set to examine the impact of multiplexing ChIP-seq experiments on the ...
