This paper gives an introduction to the enhancements of the Learning Management System TUWEL of Vienna University of Technology, which facilitates Moodle as its core. The system is being used since 2005 – starting with 1.000 users and growing to 28.000 by February 2010 – to support and enhance learning and teaching at the university. it has been under active development.

An universal accessibility evaluation of the Moodle Mobile app from a study with 21 participants without disabilities is presented by assessing the emotional response to seven interaction design patterns and video analysis. Results show accessibility barriers identified during the execution of activities and implications of these barriers in the learning process.

We present in this paper TBS-IM a Trace Based System to calculate collaborative and individual human learning Indicators in Moodle. The system we propose is based on the concept of modeled trace, and allows users to build and reuse indicators using transformations trace models without using programming code.

The general set of HCI and Educational principles are considered and a classification system constructed. A frequency analysis of principles is used to obtain the most significant set. Metrics are devised to provide objective measures of these principles and a consistent testing regime devised. These principles are used to analyse Blackboard and Moodle.
