Current motion tracking technologies fail to provide accurate wide area tracking of multiple users without interference and occlusion problems. These limitations make difficult the construction of a practical and intuitive interface, which allows humans to be inserted into networked virtual environments in a fully immersive manner. Advances in the field of miniature sensors make possible inerti...

We present a tracking approach for textured surfaces which recovers the object motion in 6 degrees of freedom. We assume an arbitrary but known surface shape, and an image of the object at a known reference pose. We extend the 2-D tracking framework of Hager et al. [1] to tracking in 3-D and under full perspective projection. The algorithm is evaluated to ground-truth motion and shows high accu...

In microhandling, the optical sensor is often the only way to obtain position information about tools and specimen. Optical microscopes are used to observe e.g. a manufacturing process. Image processing is extensively used if handling processes are fully automated. Based on the image sensor, objects are detected and classified. Additionally, the image sensor is often used as a motion tracking s...

Smooth pursuit eye movements reflect the temporal dynamics of bidimensional (2D) visual motion integration. When tracking a single, tilted line, initial pursuit direction is biased toward unidimensional (1D) edge motion signals, which are orthogonal to the line orientation. Over 200 ms, tracking direction is slowly corrected to finally match the 2D object motion during steady-state pursuit. We ...

The problem of relative motion control for spacecraft formation flying in eccentric orbits is considered in this paper. Due to the presence of nonlinear dynamics and external disturbances, a robust fuzzy sliding mode controller is developed. The slopes of sliding surfaces of the conventional sliding mode controller are tuned according to error states using a fuzzy logic and reach the pre-define...

In this work, rising of a single bubble in a quiescent liquid under microgravity condition was simulated. The related unsteady incompressible full Navier-Stokes equations were solved using a conventional finite difference method with a structured staggered grid. The interface was tracked explicitly by connected marker points via hybrid front capturing and tracking method. One field approximatio...

In this paper, we present a mesh-based motion estimation scheme for image sequence. Nodal motion vectors optimization is performed by using a multi-resolution differential method. Because our final aim is mesh tracking throughout a video sequence with optimized reconstruction, neither backward tracking nor forward tracking is well suited. One motivation of our work is to take advantage of both ...

Estimating mode (walking/running/standing) and phases of human locomotion is important for video understanding. We present a new ”tracking as recognition” approach. A hierarchical finite state machine constructed from 3D motion capture data serves as a prior motion model. Motion templates are used as the observation model. Robustness is achieved by making inferences in the prior motion model wh...

Conventional tracking solutions are not feasible in handling abrupt motion as they are based on smooth motion assumption or an accurate motion model. Abrupt motion is not subject to motion continuity and smoothness. To assuage this, we deem tracking as an optimisation problem and propose a novel abrupt motion tracker that based on swarm intelligence the SwaTrack. Unlike existing swarm-based fil...

We present a complete and modular framework that extract trajectories in a real and complex retail scenario, under unconstrained video conditions. Two motion tracking algorithms that combine features from crowd motion detection and multiple tracking are presented to build motion patterns and understand customer’s behavior. Their evaluation across several datasets show promising results.
