Conversion of Ni(12)P(5) nanoparticles to Ni(2)P is demonstrated to occur via a solid-state, rather than a solution dissolution, process. The templated transformation is employed to make monodisperse hollow or solid particles of the catalytically active phase Ni(2)P with surface areas of ~17 m(2) g(-1).
In this work, pure and different metal ions doped ZnO thin films were obtained by a facile electrochemical deposition process. Different morphologies of ZnO, such as nanoplates, nanoparticles, as well as dense film can be obtained by doping Cu, In, and Al, respectively. Besides, the electrical properties of ZnO were also dependent on the doping ions. In this work, only pure ZnO shows resistive ...
Nickel was doped into Li3VO4 (Ni-LVO) successfully via a facile room temperature reaction, and the resulting Ni-LVO nanocrystallites showed excellent lithium-ion storage properties with a capacity of 650 mAh g−1 at 50 mAh g−1 and excellent capacity stability as an anode in lithium-ion batteries, maintaining nearly 100% of the initial reversible capacity after 800 cycles at 1 A g−1. The superior...
Oxide free stable metallic nanofluids have the potential for various applications such as in thermal management and inkjet printing apart from being a candidate system for fundamental studies. A stable suspension of nickel nanoparticles of ∼ 5 nm size has been realized by a modified two-step synthesis route. Structural characterization by x-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy s...
Nanocomposite inks composed of nickel–silver core–shell and silver nanoparticles (NPs) can combine the advantages lower cost, high conductivity, low-temperature sintering processes, which have attracted much attention in development materials for printed flexible electronics. In this context, present paper, we report process preparation nanocomposite ink containing nanoparticles, as main filler...
In this paper we report a new nanometallic, self-activating catalyst, namely, Ni-supported Pd nanoparticles (PdNPs/Ni) for low temperature ammonia cracking, which was prepared using a novel approach involving the transfer of nanoparticles from the intermediate carrier, i.e. nano-spherical SiO2, to the target carrier technical grade Ni (t-Ni) or high purity Ni (p-Ni) grains. The method that was ...
Different nanocomposites between reduced graphene oxide (rGO) and Ni(OH)2 nanoparticles were synthesized through modifications in the polyol method (starting from graphene oxide (GO) dispersion in ethylene glycol and nickel acetate), processed as thin films through the liquid-liquid interfacial route, homogeneously deposited over transparent electrodes and spectroscopically, microscopically and...
A series of substitutional solid solutions-Eu₇Cu44-xTxAs23 (T = Fe, Co, Ni)-based on a recently discovered clathrate-like compound (Eu₇Cu44As23) were synthesized from the elements at 800 °C. Almost up to 50% of Cu can be substituted by Ni, resulting in a linear decrease of the cubic unit cell parameter from a = 16.6707(1) Å for the ternary compound to a = 16.3719(1) Å for the sample with the no...
Hybridization of atomic orbitals in graphene on Ni(111) opens a large energy gap of ≈2.8 eV between non-hybridized states at the K-point. Here we use alkali metal adsorbate to reduce and even eliminate this energy gap, and also identify a mechanism responsible for decoupling graphene from the Ni substrate without intercalation of atomic species underneath graphene. Using angle-resolved photoemi...
Nanoparticles of transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDC) have been known to reduce friction and wear when added to oil-type liquid lubricants. Aggregation limits the ability of the nanoparticles to penetrate into the interface between the two rubbing surfaces—an important factor in friction reduction mechanisms. Doping has been successfully used to reduce agglomeration, but it must be done in t...
