Query expansion has long been suggested as an effective way to improve the performance of information retrieval systems by adding additional relevant terms to the original queries. However, most previous research has been limited in extracting new terms from a subset of relevant documents, but has not exploited the information about user interactions. In this paper, we proposed a method for aut...

In this paper, the Method of Fundamental Solutions (MFS) is extended to solve some special cases of the problem of transient heat conduction in functionally graded materials. First, the problem is transformed to a heat equation with constant coefficients using a suitable new transformation and then the MFS together with the Tikhonov regularization method is used to solve the resulting equation.

In two-phase sampling, the second-phase sample is often a stratified sample based on the information observed in the first-phase sample. For the total of a population characteristic, either the double-expansion estimator or the reweighted expansion estimator can be used. Given a consistent first-phase replication variance estimator, we propose a consistent variance estimator that is applicable ...

It is important to seek for more explicit exact solutions of nonlinear partial differential equations (NLPDEs) in mathematical physics. With the help of symbolic computation software like Maple or Mathematica, much work has been focused on the various extensions and applications of the known methods to construct exact solutions of NLPDEs. Mathematical modelling of physical systems often leads t...

Abstract: By means of a simple transformation, we have shown that the generalized-Zakharov equations, the coupled nonlinear Klein-Gordon-Zakarov equations, the GDS, DS and GZ equations and generalized Hirota-Satsuma coupled KdV system can be reduced to the ellipticlike equations. Then, the extended projective Riccati equation expansion method is used to obtain a series of solutions including ne...

In recent years, significant research efforts have been devoted to the optimal planning of power systems. Substation Expansion Planning (SEP) as a sub-system of power system planning consists of finding the most economical solution with the optimal location and size of future substations and/or feeders to meet the future load demand. The large number of design variables and combination of discr...

We construct the traveling wave solutions of the 1 1 -dimensional modified Benjamin-BonaMahony equation, the 2 1 -dimensional typical breaking soliton equation, the 1 1 -dimensional classical Boussinesq equations, and the 2 1 -dimensional Broer-Kaup-Kuperschmidt equations by using an extended G′/G -expansion method, where G satisfies the second-order linear ordinary differential equation. By us...

We present a new variant of a Monte Carlo procedure for euclidean quantum field theories with fermions. On a lattice every term contributing to the expansion of the fermion determinant is interpreted as a configuration of self-avoiding oriented closed loops which represent the fermionic vacuum fluctuations. These loops are related to Symanzik's polymer description of euclidean quantum field the...

The momentum-space bosonization method is extended to the case of a Nambu–Jona-Lasinio type model with vector and axial-vector mesons. The method presented gives the possibility of deriving any meson vertex function to all orders in momenta and to the leading order in 1/Nc. Two-point functions, which describe one-particle transitions to the hadronic vacuum, and meson selfenergies are considered...

The study of disease etiology and the search for susceptible genes of schizophrenia have attracted scientists' attention for decades. Many findings however are inconsistent, possibly due to the higher order interactions involving multi-dimensional genetic and environmental factors or due to the commingling of different ethnic groups. Several studies applied generalized linear mixed models (GLMM...
