A largely pictorial description is given of a variant of an ingenious parallel sorting algorithm due to Richard Cole. The new description strives to achieve greater simplicity by exploiting symmetries that were not explicit in the original exposition and that can be conveyed nicely with pictures. Not paying attention to constant factors allows an additional slight simplification of the algorithm.

An exact solution is presented for a swinging Atwood’s machine. This teardrop-heart orbit is constructed using Hamilton-Jacobi theory. In this demonstration, we show a qualitative analysis of sulfite ions in white wine with strontium ions. In base solution, a white precipitation occurs from strontium sulfite that disappears after a strong acid is added. This demonstration nicely illustrates chemical equilibrium in a school chemistry experiment.

Thomas-Fermi theory is developed to evaluate nuclear matrix elements on the average. One and two body matrix elements are compared with quantal results and it is demonstrated that the semiclassical matrix elements nicely follow the quantal values on the mean. Various physical situations are ad-dresed where the semiclassical evaluation of the one and two body matrix elements can be useful.

Employing data on the assessed value of land in 1983 – 2005 Japan, we investigate the dynamical behavior in the high scale region of non-equilibrium systems. From the detailed quasi-balance and Gibrat's law, we derive a relation between the change of Pareto index and a symmetry in the detailed quasi-balance. The relation is confirmed in the empirical data nicely.

Relevant aspects for testing Bell inequalities with entangled meson–antimeson systems are analyzed. In particular, we argue that the results of A. Go, J. Mod. Optics 51, 991 (2004), which nicely illustrate the quantum entanglement of B–meson pairs, cannot be considered as a Bell–test refuting local realism.

We describe a procedure that utilizes symmetric curves for building artistic tiles. One particular curve was found to mesh nicely with hundreds other curves, resulting in eye-catching tiling designs. The results of our work serve as a good example of using ideas from 2-D graphics and algorithms in a practical web-based application.
