Wind erosion is one of the most widespread and severe natural hazards in arid, semiarid, semihumid regions worldwide. The Three-North region (TNR) (Northeast China, North Northwest China) China includes 90% wind area China. In response to harsh environmental conditions TNR, initiated a series ecological programs, including Afforestation Program Grain for Green. However, little known about effec...

Abstract Continuous changes in the global climate have exacerbated uneven spatial distribution of water resources. The quantitative response relationships between precipitation and its influencing factors are an important research topic. In this study, responses to were quantified by analysing large-spatial-scale data such as monthly 619 meteorological stations China from 1951 2018, CMIP6 data,...

Northeast Asia including China, Korea, and Japan is one of the world’s largest fossil fuel consumption regions. Seoul, Korea, is a megacity in Northeast Asia. Its emissions of air pollutants can affect the region, and in turn it is also affected by regional emissions. To understand the extent of these influences, major sources of ambient particulate PAHs in Seoul were identified and quantified ...

Assessing environmental effects of shelter forests is primarily necessary for realizing their greatest protective benefits. The Three-North Shelter Forest Program (TNSFP), the largest ecological afforestation program in the world, has been operated for three decades in China but so far lacks comprehensive assessment of its environmental impacts. Horqin Sandy Land (HSL) in Northeast China is one...

[1] A large patch of enhanced chlorophyll a concentration (Chla), lower sea surface temperature (SST), and lower sea surface height (SSH) was revealed in the central South China Sea (SCS) in November 2001 after the passage of typhoon Lingling. Maximum SST reduction of 11 C occurred one day after Lingling’s passage on 11/11. Subsequently, against a background level of 0.08 mg/m, average Chla wit...

The transnational area of Changbai Mountain (TACM) is crucial to sustainable development in Northeast Asia owing to its abundant forest, which helps in maintaining biodiversity and multiple ecosystem services. However, the spatiotemporal patterns of forest in the TACM have been poorly understood across the whole region. The objectives of this study were to quantify the spatiotemporal patterns o...

The complete genome sequence of a Pepper mild mottle virus (PMMoV) isolate obtained from Northeast China was determined by reverse transcription-PCR (RT-PCR) and rapid amplification of cDNA ends (RACE). Phylogenetic analysis showed that the virus isolate is closely related to Japanese, Chinese, Spanish, and U.S. isolates.
