in this study, we performed a bacteriological investigation on bovine respiratory infections. additionally, the study evaluates the efficacy of florfenicol 30 µg produced by rooyan darou company (test group) as compared to a similar drug produced by aboraihan company (control group). sampling was carried out on 30 calves at two farms with 30-55% incidence rate of respiratory disorders. nasophar...

Pasteurella multocida is an important etiological agent that can cause many economically important diseases in a wide range of mammals and birds. Here, we report the complete genome sequence of P. multocida HN06, a toxigenic serogroup D strain isolated from a diseased pig in China.

A selective culture medium for isolation of Pasteurella multocida was prepared by incorporating 2 mg of amikacin per liter, 4 mg of vancomycin per liter, and 4 mg of amphotericin B per liter into Mueller-Hinton blood agar. Use of this medium revealed the presence of P. multocida in the oropharynges of 19 of the 49 pig breeders who were examined.

Pasteurella multocida is known as an important heterogenic bacterial agent causes some severe diseases such as fowl cholera in poultry and haemorrhagic septicaemia in cattle and buffalo. A polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assay was developed using primers derived from conserved part of 16S-23S rRNA gene. The PCR amplified a fragment size of 0.7 kb using DNA from nine avian P. multocida  isolates...

The role of the P. multocida lipopolysaccharide (LPS) as a putative adhesin during the early stages of infection with this bacterium in the respiratory epithelium of rabbits was investigated. By light microscopy and double enzyme labeling of nasal septa tissues, the amount of bacteria attached to the respiratory epithelium and the amount of LPS present in goblet cells at different experimental ...

this study evaluated the nasopharyngeal microbial flora and antimicrobial susceptibility patterns of the one hundred and thirty holstein calves with dairy calf pneumonia from dairy farms of mashhad suburb between september 2002 and august 2003 . the most common micro-organisms isolated were pasteurella multocida 80 (61.54%), mannheimia haemolytica 41 (31.54%), bacillus sp. 15 (11.54%), staphylo...

Sublines homozygous for each of four MHC haplotypes were developed from randombred control populations of turkeys and challenged with Pasteurella multocida (capsular serogroup a, somatic serotype 3, 4) at 6 wk of age or Newcastle disease virus (NDV; Texas GB strain) at 4 wk of age. In addition, individuals from a randombred control line (RBC2) and a subline (F) of RBC2 long-term selected for in...

Fowl cholera continues to be of concern to the poultry industry, especially for turkey growers. This disease costs the turkey industry millions of dollars annually. In order to develop improved live attenuated vaccines or subunit vaccines, the outer-membrane proteins of Pasteurella multocida were examined with the use of proteomics. Of the 11 proteins total present in an outer-membrane subfract...

Forty-eight Pasteurella multocida cultures collected from rabbits over a 56-year period were examined to determine their physiological characteristics and to determine their serological types in the gel diffusion precipitin test. Generally, the physiological characteristics from 30 tests were typical for P. multocida. There were a few atypical variations in the fermentation of lactose and malto...

Pasteurella multocida is a rare cause of bacterial meningitis. A 56-year-old man with several pets developed a profoundly decreased level of consciousness following left tympanomastoidectomy. Lumbar puncture produced cerebrospinal fluid with the typical findings of meningitis (low glucose, high protein, high leukocytes). Cultures from the cerebrospinal fluid and a swab of the left ear revealed ...
