FIG. 1 Proposed mechanisms of joint lubrication (Redrawn after Walker and others, 1968) (Lancet, 1969; Dowson, Wright, and Longfield, 1969) and a further possibility, 'weeping' lubrication, has been proposed (McCutchen, 1959, 1962). More recently, the role ofelectrostatic forces at articulating surfaces has been investigated (Roberts, 1971). In each of these hypothetical mechanisms the thesis h...

In the paper we investigate power law for PageRank components for the Buckley-Osthus model for web graph. We compare different numerical methods for PageRank calculation. With the best method we do a lot of numerical experiments. These experiments confirm the hypothesis about power law. At the end we discuss real model of web-ranking based on the classical PageRank approach.
We apply a linear mixed-effects model to multivariate failure time data. Computation of the regression parameters involves the Buckley-James method in an iterated Monte Carlo expectation-maximization algorithm, wherein the Monte Carlo E-step is implemented using the Metropolis-Hastings algorithm. From simulation studies, this approach compares favorably with the marginal independence approach, ...
Departing from the classical Buckley-Leverett theory for two-phase immiscible flows in porous media, a reduced evolution equation for the water-oil displacement front is formulated and studied numerically. The reduced model successfully reproduces the basic features of the finger-forming dynamics observed in recent direct numerical simulations. PACS numbers: 47.20.Gv, 47.20.Ky, 47.20.Ma
