Metastatic tumors involving the brain are an important complication in the overall management of non-small cell lung cancers. Surgery and radiation remain the cornerstones of the therapy, however, the burgeoning knowledge of tumor biology has facilitated the entry of systemically administered therapies into the clinic. This review mainly summarizes the current applications of these data to surg...

This review describes some current and future approaches designed to modulate the response of tumors and normal tissues to cell killing by ionizing radiation. The emerging knowledge of tumor, cellular and molecular biology is providing a better understanding of the clinical results with the hypoxic cell sensitizers and novel approaches to radiation sensitization and protection.

Since July 1995, the European Bioinformatics Institute (EBI) has maintained RHdb (http://www.ebi.ac.uk/RHdb ), a public database for radiation hybrid data. Radiation hybrid mapping is an important technique for determining high resolution maps. RHdb is also served by CORBA servers. The EBI is an Outstation of the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL).

We determine the range of neutrino masses and cosmic radiation content allowed by the most recent CMB and large-scale structure data. In contrast to other recent works, we vary these parameters simultaneously and provide likelihood contours in the two-dimensional parameter space of Neff , the usual effective number of neutrino species measuring the radiation density, and ∑ mν . The allowed rang...

While the analysis of crystal structures of otherwise difficultto-study protein complexes is among the most widely known applications of synchrotron light, other areas of structural biology will benefit as well. For example, “there are exciting new applications being developed for structural molecular biology using synchrotron radiation circular dichroism (SRCD) spectroscopy to examine the stru...
