In removable partial denture fabrication, the patient's interest usually lies in the improvement of his or her esthetic appearance. Unsightly facial clasps have always been a cosmetic problem with traditional options either expensive or technically difficult. This article describes an alternative for anterior retention that maintains excellent esthetics with a simple approach.
This clinical report describes prosthetic rehabilitation of posterior open bite relationship in a patient with several missing teeth and skeletal Class III malocclusion. Primary diagnostic esthetic evaluations were performed by mounting casts in centric relation and estimating lost vertical dimension of occlusion. Exclusive treatments were designated by applying overlay removable partial dentur...
The central giant cell granuloma (CGCG) is benign, nonodontogenic, and intraosseous lesion of the jaw. Aggressive subtypes of CGCG have a tendency to recur after excision and require wide resection that leads to major defects in the jaw. In this case report a patient who had severe mandibular bony deficiency as a result of excision of aggressive CGCG, orthodontic, and prosthetic treatment was d...
This article describes the occlusal rehabilitation of a partially edentulous patient who did not want a removable partial denture. Implants and extensive fixed restorations were used to restore posterior support and treat severely worn dentition, respectively. The treatment offered the patient a functional and esthetic result.
Utilization of computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) increases in dental prosthetics. From single restorations and bridges, computer-aided engineering supports fabrication of partial and now complete removable dentures. Improved materials, like crosslinked poly (methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) and CAD/CAM technology permit realization of a superior quality denture in shorter ...
Positioning handles and occlusal locks have evolved as improvements to the Teeth-in-a-Day protocol. These improvements have enabled a more accurate alignment of the removable dental prosthesis during the conversion prosthesis technique. These improvements can be easily incorporated through computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing digital denture fabrication process.
PURPOSE The aim of our study was to explore the effects of different loading positions on the movements of the abutment tooth and denture base of removable partial denture with unilaterally designed framework (RPD-U). MATERIALS AND METHODS The experiment was carried out with a simulation model of a mandible without left molars. The movements of abutment tooth and denture base of the unilatera...
OBJECTIVE Immediate loading of dental implants in the edentulous mandible has proven to be an effective, reliable, and predictable procedure. There is little long-term data available on similar treatments in the edentulous maxilla. The aim of the present study was to clinically evaluate edentulous maxilla rehabilitation with removable prostheses supported by the Ankylos SynCone (Dentsply-Friade...
AIM This clinical report describes the occlusal rehabilitation of a partially edentulous patient with lost vertical dimension. BACKGROUND The patient did not want a removable partial denture. Implants, fixed restorations with occlusal plane correction, were used to restore the anterior and posterior support and treat the severely worn dentition. However, a partially edentulous patient may be ...
