The arrhythmogenic role of increased dispersion of repolarization (Dispersion) in monophasic action potentials (MAPs) was studied in 12 open-chest dogs. Following exposure of the heart by pericardial cradle, four MAPs were recorded simultaneously from the right and left ventricular surfaces using the suction electrode technique. Maximum dispersion (maxDIS) was defined as the greatest Dispersion...

Marshall sign and the doped t − J model Abstract Marshall sign as a sole source of sign problem hidden in an antiferromagnet is explored under doping. By tracking the Marshall sign, a zero spectral weight Z is revealed in the doped antiferromagnetic system. Z = 0 is caused by a phase string induced by the " bare " hole. By eliminating such a phase string through nonlocal transformations, a non-...

The Chern-Simons bosonization with U(1)× SU(2) gauge field is applied to the 2-D t− J model in the limit t ≫ J , to study the normal state properties of underdoped cuprate superconductors. We prove the existence of an upper bound on the partition function for holons in a spinon background, and we find the optimal spinon configuration saturating the upper bound on average – a coexisting flux pha...

We review the role of strong electronic correlations in quasi–twodimensional organic charge transfer salts such as (BEDT-TTF)2X, (BETS)2Y and β′-[Pd(dmit)2]2Z. We begin by defining minimal models for these materials. It is necessary to identify two classes of material: the first class is strongly dimerised and is described by a half-filled Hubbard model; the second class is not strongly dimeris...

INTRODUCTION The treatment of hepatitis C virus (HCV) genotype 1 with ribavirin (RBV) and pegylated-interferon alpha (peg-IFNα) provides a low-level sustained virological response (SVR). Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the interleukin 28B (IL28B) gene have been identified as SVR predictors. Our aim was to establish an association between three IL28B SNPs (rs8099917, rs12979860, and rs...

We give a quantitative analysis of the previously published nuclear magnetic resonance NMR experiments in the ET 2X family of organic charge-transfer salts. The temperature dependence of the nuclear-spin relaxation rate 1 /T1, the Knight shift Ks, and the Korringa ratio K is compared to the predictions of the phenomenological spin-fluctuation model of Moriya and Millis, Monien, and Pines M-MMP ...

I give a review of the current status of the quantum spin liquid, emphasizing the connection to lattice gauge theory, de-confinement and the emergence of novel particles and gauge fields in the low energy effective theory The study of quantum spin liquid and frustrated magnetism is a field in many-body theory which has attracted a great deal of attention in recent years, due both to theoretical...

We point out that both superexchange between CuO2 layers, and interlayer tunneling, derive from frustrated one-particle hopping between layers, and that they should be treated on an equal footing. Doing so, we arrive at a new view of the nature of pairing in the cuprate supercondcutors, which explains the striking even ↔ odd selection rule observed by Keimer in neutron scattering by YBCO.

In this talk, I present a microscopic theory I proposed recently to describe high-Tc superconductivity in cuprates. I show that coherent pairing states consisting of extended singlet Cooper pairs and triplet π pairs can manifest both the Mott insulating antiferromagnetic order and the d-wave superconducting order. From this configuration of coherent pairing states, I can describe both the singl...
