Structure-activity-relationship (SAR) models are used to inform and guide the iterative optimization of chemical leads, and play a fundamental role in modern drug discovery. In this paper we present a new class of methods for building SAR models, referred to as affinity-based, that utilize activity information from different targets. These methods first identify a set of targets that are relate...

The Carajás Mineral Province is located in the eastern portion of the Amazon craton, state of Pará and contains a significant number of mineral deposits, most of them exhibiting structural and lithological controls, such as sets of dilation faults. This paper presents the results of the interpretation of simulated MAPSAR (MultiApplication Purpose SAR) data, integrated with aerogeophysical data,...

Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells are one of the most commonly used expression systems for the production of recombinant proteins but low levels of transgene expression and transgene silencing are frequently encountered. Epigenetic regulatory elements such as the chicken β-globin locus control region hypersensitive site 4 (HS4) and scaffold/matrix attachment regions (S/MARs) have positive effec...

The species-area relationship (SAR), describing the increase in species richness with increasing area, and the latitudinal diversity gradient (LDG), describing the decrease in species richness with increasing latitude, are the oldest and most robust patterns in biogeography, yet connections between them remain poorly understood. Here, using 1,742 floras covering the entirety of North America no...

The model based on range and Doppler equations (RD model) is the most precise model for SAR geolocation, and therefore SAR geolocation based on this RD model has become more and more popular. Unfortunately, the RD method requires iterative solution, in most case, which is time-consuming and prone to poor optimization due to observation errors of parameters. In face of the huge mass of measured ...

The Maximum Entropy Theory of Ecology (METE) predicts a universal species-area relationship (SAR) that can be fully characterized using only the total abundance (N) and species richness (S) at a single spatial scale. This theory has shown promise for characterizing scale dependence in the SAR. However, there are currently four different approaches to applying METE to predict the SAR and it is u...

a r t i c l e i n f o Accurate mapping of urban impervious surfaces is important but challenging due to the diversity of urban land covers. This study presents an effort to synergistically combine optical and SAR data to improve the mapping of impervious surfaces. Three pairs of optical and SAR images, Landsat ETM+ and ENVISAT ASAR, SPOT-5 and ENVISAR ASAR, and SPOT-5 and TerraSAR-X, were selec...

Naturally occurring anziaic acid was very recently reported as a topoisomerase I inhibitor with antibacterial activity. Herein total synthesis of anziaic acid and structural analogues is described and the preliminary structure-activity relationship (SAR) has been developed based on topoisomerase inhibition and whole cell antibacterial activity.

An effective one-pot synthesis of quinolines bearing diverse C3-piperazinyl functions was developed by using a modified Friedländer's protocol. The method not only enables the synthesis of our early reported c-Met inhibitor on a large scale, but also provides a way to generate novel multi-substituted quinolines for further structure-activity relationship (SAR) study.
