In this paper, we discuss the question of closure conditions for dialogues in three different frameworks: W. C. Mann’s DMT framework, Vanderveken’s illocutionary theory of discourse and Asher and Lascarides SDRT approach. We are interested in formal frameworks that aim to describe the logical structure of conversations between diversely bounded agents who are to some extent rational, intelligen...

In this paper, we focus on the diversity-multiplexing tradeoff (DMT) in MIMO channels and introduce the development of DMT in MIMO channels. Zheng and Tse first proposed DMT in MIMO channels and based on their ideas, other researchers extended to many different aspects. We will study DMT in different MIMO fading channels, DMT curves and DMT under different protocols.

We present a new low-complexity method for the design of channel shortening equalizers for discrete multitone modulation systems using the eigenfilter approach. In contrast to other such methods which require a Cholesky decomposition for each delay parameter value used, ours requires only one such decomposition. Simulation results show that our method performs nearly optimally in terms of obser...

Financial crises appear throughout human history. While there are many schools of thought on what the actual causes of such crises are, it has been suggested that the creation of credit money might be a source of financial instability. We discuss how the credit mechanism in a system of fractional reserve banking leads to non-local transfers of purchasing power that also affect non-involved agen...

Frank Morris was a good friend, a fellow-navigator in World War II, a fine economist, and a first-rate central banker. I am pleased to participate in this conference honoring him. First, this interesting and intensively researched paper by Richard Cooper and Jane Little is really mistitled. It goes far beyond the influence of foreign events and institutions on U.S. monetary policy. It deals wit...

The cyclic prefix is commonly used in the context of frequency domain equalization in DMT channels. In this paper we observe that it can be used in more general contexts and show its advantages in blind equalization, especially for non minimum phase channels.

In this report, we study the diversity-multiplexing tradeoff(DMT) in MIMO channels. DMT in MIMO channels is first introduced by Zheng and Tse. Based on their ideas, other researchers extended to different aspects. We will study DMT in two different aspects. In the first aspect, we will introduce DMT in different MIMO fading channels. In the second aspect, we will study different codes which wil...

T here is always uncertainty about the soundness of an economic model’s structure and parameters. Therefore, central banks normally face with uncertainty about the key economic explanatory relationships. So, policymaker should take into account the uncertainty in formulating monetary policies. The present study is aimed to examine robust optimal monetary policy under uncertainty, by ...

We show that an incr...
