This paper presents a new method for constructing novel thick-panel origami cube. By replacing the equivalent 4R-spherical linkage in four-crease zero-thickness vertex with plane-symmetric Bricard linkage, form of general is identified and constructed. The proposed preserves kinematics original vertex. Then, by utilizing vertex, cube constructed based on that was our previous work. Through mech...

This paper presents a numerical investigation on the plastic forming of doubly curved surfaces aluminum foam sandwich panel (AFSP). A mesoscopic 3D Voronoi model that can describe structure closed-cell relatively realistically was established, and series simulations using with core were conducted two typical including spherical saddle-shaped AFSPs to analyze deformation behaviors defects in det...

A non-spherical model for bubble formation at an ori"ce with liquid cross-#ow has been developed. The interface element approach is applied to describe the dynamics of bubble formation. The e!ect of liquid cross-#ow on the bubble formation process is modelled by a combination of tilting of the bubble axis and liquid pressure analysis of each element on the bubble interface. Model predictions co...

In this paper we present a novel approach for expanding spherical 3D-tensor fields of arbitrary order in terms of a tensor valued local Fourier basis. For an efficient implementation, a two step approach is suggested combined with the use of spherical derivatives. Based on this new transformation we conduct two experiments utilizing the spherical tensor algebra for computing and using rotation ...

A spherical model of skeleton with junctions is investigated by Monte Carlo simulations. The model is governed by one-dimensional bending energy. The results indicate that the model undergoes a firstorder transition separating the smooth phase from the crumpled phase. The existence of phase transition indicates that junctions play a nontrivial role in the transition.

Accurate simulation of atmospheric flow in weather and climate prediction models requires the discretization of the governing equations to have a number of desirable properties. Although these properties can be achieved relatively straightforwardly on a latitude-longitude grid, they are much more challenging on the various quasi-uniform spherical grids that are now under consideration. A recent...

We consider the one-loop two-point function for multi-trace operators in the U(2) sector of N = 4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills at finite N . We derive an expression for it in terms of U(N) and Sn+1 group theory data, where n is the length of the operators. The Clebsch-Gordan operators constructed in [1], which are diagonal at tree level, only mix at one loop if you can reach the same (n + 1)-box Y...

Due to the equivalence of the statistical ensembles thermostatic properties of physical systems with short-range interactions can be calculated in different ensembles leading to the same physics. In particular, the ensemble equivalence holds for systems that undergo a continuous phase transition in the infinite volume limit so that the properties of the transition can also be investigated in th...

Introduction: Over the years, various diffusion based cortical surface data smoothing techniques [1,2] have been proposed but without numerical validation. We present a novel validation technique that uses the analytical solution of a diffusion equation as the ground truth. The proposed framework is used in validating and comparing the performance of heat kernel smoothing [2] and the weighted s...

We consider the action on instanton moduli spaces of the non-local symmetries of the self-dual Yang–Mills equations on R discovered by Chau and coauthors. Beginning with the ADHM construction, we show that a sub-algebra of the symmetry algebra generates the tangent space to the instanton moduli space at each point. We explicitly find the subgroup of the symmetry group that preserves the one-ins...
