We propose controlled splay of artiicial columnar defects in cuprate super-conductors as a strategy to enhance transport properties in a eld compared to parallel columns. The theory predicts a new \splayed glass" phase characterized by a reduced ux creep, an entangled ground state, and an astronomically slow response to an applied transverse eld.

background: despite some successful dynamic simulation of self-impact double pendulum (sidp)-as humanoid robots legs or arms- studies, there is limited information available about the control of one leg locomotion. objective   : the main goal of this research is to improve the reliability of the mammalians leg locomotion and building more elaborated models close to the natural movements, by mod...

BACKGROUND Mandibular reconstruction is challenging for experienced and resident surgeons. Three-dimensional (3D) biomodeling creates accurate physical models of patients' craniofacial skeletons, which can potentially assist reconstruction. However, this capacity has not been objectively examined. OBJECTIVE The purpose of this study was to assess 3D biomodels in performing and learning mandib...

Splay trees (Sleator and Tarjan [8]) satisfy the so-called access lemma. Many of the nice properties of splay trees follow from it. What makes self-adjusting binary search trees (BSTs) satisfy the access lemma? We propose a global view of BST algorithms, which allows us to identify general structural properties of algorithms that satisfy the access lemma. As an application of our techniques, we...

To investigate the importance of crevasse-splay elements for connectivity fluvial sandbodies, an integrated study has been undertaken that combines data from outcropping and subsurface successions, modern rivers, with outputs forward stratigraphic models object-based modelling. Literature-derived analogue on over 2100 many systems have synthesized to obtain quantifications proportion geometry u...

We present a chosen-plaintext attack on KIST, a recently proposed encryption scheme based on splay trees. Our attack recovers a 128-bit key with approximately 2 bit operations and fewer than 2 chosen-plaintext queries. Splay trees are a type of binary search search trees discovered by Sleator and Tarjan in 1983 [1, 2]. Splay trees are self-adjusting, in the sense that a tree modifies itself at ...

Superfluid 3 He-A has domain-wall like structures, which are called solitons. We calculate numerically the structure of a splay soliton and study its effect on the NMR spectrum by calculating the frequency and the amplitude of the soliton peaks. We compare the results with experiments and discuss their implications on the basic parameters of 3 He.

Deep-water megasplay faults may promote or limit earthquake rupture and tsunami genesis. To better understand how affect associated potential, we use the Discrete Element Method (DEM) to model upper plate as a wedge that is partitioned into seismic (velocity-weakening, VW) inner an aseismic outer (velocity-strengthening, VS) wedge, combined with splay fault rooting at decollement. We examine ef...
