Oculomotor circuits have recently been used as a sort of looking glass, providing reflections of higher brain functions like reward expectation, target selection, and decision making (Glimcher 2003). One well-studied example is a decision about the direction of visual motion in a random-dot stimulus (Britten 2003). Monkeys are trained to make this difficult decision and indicate their answer wi...

Hayo Reinders, Unitec Institute of Technology Sorada Wattana, Dhurakij Pundit University This paper reports on a study into the effects of digital game play on learners’ Willingness to Communicate (WTC), or individuals’ “readiness to enter into discourse at a particular time with a specific person or persons, using a L2” (MacIntyre, Dörnyei, Clément, & Noels, 1998, p. 547). Thirty Thai learners...

Dynamic causal modelling (DCM) is a method for estimating and making inferences about the coupling among small numbers of brain areas, and the influence of experimental manipulations on that coupling [Friston, K.J., Harrison, L., Penny, W., 2003 Dynamic causal modelling. Neuroimage 19, 1273-1302]. Large-scale neural modelling aims to construct neurobiologically grounded computational models wit...

It is argued that the mass spectrum of a meson nonet is linear, consistent with the standard Gell-Mann–Okubo mass formula and leading to an extra Gell-Mann–Okubo mass relation for the masses of the isoscalar states. This relation is shown to hold with an accuracy of up to ∼3% for all well-established nonets. It also suggests a new qq̄ assignment for the scalar meson nonet. Bitnet: [email protected]...

We discuss the properties of an ideal relativistic gas of events possessing Bose-Einstein statistics. We find that the mass spectrum of such a system is bounded by μ ≤ m ≤ 2M/μK , where μ is the usual chemical potential, M is an intrinsic dimensional scale parameter for the motion of an event in spacetime, and μK is an additional mass potential of the ensemble. For the system including both par...

We review the formulation of the problem of electromagnetic self-interaction of a relativistic charged particle in the framework of the manifestly covariant classical mechanics of Stueckeleberg, Horwitz, and Piron. The gauge fields of this theory, in general, cause the mass of the particle to change. We study the four dynamical off-mass-shell orbit equations which result from the expansion of G...

We review the formulation of the problem of the electromagnetic self-interaction of a relativistic charged particle in the framework of the manifestly covariant classical mechanics of Stueckelberg, Horwitz, and Piron. The gauge fields of this theory, in general, cause the mass of the particle to change. We show that the nonlinear Lorentz force equation for the self-interaction resulting from th...

Slicing is a technique used to identify the program subset that could affect a particular statement of interest called the slicing criterion. Slicing has applications in program understanding, testing, model checking and functionality extraction. For computing a slice, we need to compute dependence information among statements. In object oriented languages, finding dependence information become...
