Fe(2+) cations in FeCl(2) or FeSO(4) were oxidized by graphene oxide, leading to an in situ deposition of Fe(3)O(4) nanoparticles onto the self-reduced graphene oxide (rGO) sheets. The resultant Fe(3)O(4)/rGO sheets were demonstrated to possess interesting magnetic and electrochemical properties attractive for a large variety of potential applications.

We report both a facile, scalable method to prepare reduced graphene oxide hydrogels through the electrodeposition of graphene oxide and its use as an electrode for high-performance supercapacitors. Such systems exhibited specific capacitances of 147 and 223 F g(-1) at a current density of 10 A g(-1) when using H2SO4 and H2SO4 + hydroquinone redox electrolytes, respectively.

We synthesized single-phase CoS2 on a large scale by adding graphene oxide of sufficient quantity via the hydrothermal method using cobalt acetate and thioacetamide as precursors; this produced the hybrid of CoS2 with reduced graphene oxide which exhibited high electrocatalytic activity in the hydrogen evolution reaction.

Graphene oxide is being used in energy, optical, electronic and sensor devices due to its unique properties. However, unlike its counterpart - graphene - the thermal transport properties of graphene oxide remain unknown. In this work, we use large-scale molecular dynamics simulations with reactive potentials to systematically study the role of oxygen adatoms on the thermal transport in graphene...

Carbon-based nanomaterials such as single-walled carbon nanotubes and reduced graphene oxide are currently being evaluated for biomedical applications including in vivo drug delivery and tumor imaging. Several reports have studied the toxicity of carbon nanomaterials, but their effects on human male reproduction have not been fully examined. Additionally, it is not clear whether the nanomateria...

With its synergistic toughening effect and hierarchical micro/nanoscale structure, natural nacre sets a "gold standard" for nacre-inspired materials with integrated high strength and toughness. We demonstrated strong and tough ternary bioinspired nanocomposites through synergistic toughening of reduced graphene oxide and double-walled carbon nanotube (DWNT) and covalent bonding. The tensile str...

The morphologies/dimensions of Au nanostructures can be tailored by merely controlling the reduction degree of graphene oxide surface. Au nanoparticles, long Au nanowires, and semicircular-shaped Au nanoplates are in situ synthesized on slightly, moderately, and highly reduced graphene oxide films respectively, without the need of any templating agent.

Present work demonstrates the simple, chemical free, fast, and energy efficient method to produce reduced graphene oxide (r-GO) solution at RT using visible light irradiation with plasmonic nanoparticles. The plasmonic nanoparticle is used to improve the reduction efficiency of GO. It only takes 30 min at RT by illuminating the solutions with Xe-lamp, the r-GO solutions can be obtained by compl...
