We report zero-field muon-spin rotation and relaxation measurements on the superconducting ferromagnet UCoGe. Weak itinerant ferromagnetic order is detected by a spontaneous muon-spin precession frequency below the Curie temperature TC=3 K. The micro+ precession frequency persists below the bulk superconducting transition temperature Tsc=0.5 K, where it measures a local magnetic field Bloc=0.01...

We report transverse-field and zero-field muon spin rotation and relaxation studies of the superconducting rhenium oxide pyrochlore, Cd2Re2O7. Transverse-field measurements (H=0.007 T) show line broadening below T(c), which is characteristic of a vortex state, demonstrating conclusively the type-II nature of this superconductor. The penetration depth is seen to level off below about 400 mK (T/T...

We report on muon-spin relaxation measurements of the 4f(2)-based heavy-fermion superconductor filled-skutterudite Pr(Os4Sb12. The results reveal the spontaneous appearance of static internal magnetic fields below the superconducting transition temperature, providing unambiguous evidence for the breaking of time-reversal symmetry in the superconducting state. A discussion is made on which of th...

We study the gauge field fluctuations in dense quark matter and determine the temperature of the induced first-order phase transition to the color-superconducting phase in weak coupling. We find that the local approximation of the coupling between the gauge potential and the order parameter, employed in the Ginzburg-Landau theory, has to be modified by restoring the full momentum dependence of ...

The CePt3Si system has recently been reported as the only heavy fermion system with a lack of inversion symmetry in the crystal structure to display superconducting properties. This discovery is in partial disagreement with the traditional Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer (BCS) theory of superconductors, which involves electron phonon mediated pairing. The previously published data, January 2004, repo...

We studied the evolution of superconductivity (sc) and antiferromagnetism (afm) in the heavy fermion compound CePt3Si with hydrostatic pressure. We present a pressure-temperature phase diagram established by electrical transport measurements. Pressure shifts the superconducting transition temperature, Tc, to lower temperatures. Antiferromagnetism is suppressed at a critical pressure Pc ≈ 0.5 GPa.

Cuprate high-temperature superconductors consist of two quasi-two-dimensional (2D) substructures: CuO2 superconducting layers and charge reservoir layers. The superconductivity is realized by charge transfer from the charge reservoir layers into the superconducting layers without chemical dopants and defects being introduced into the latter, similar to modulationdoping in the semiconductor supe...

Measurements made on superconducting very thin layers are analysed by modelization using 2D FEM. The electric field distribution is established and can be seen the differences of this distribution during the superconductive transition. The calculation of the temperature variation of the resistivity is made based on measured temperature variation of the resistance, taking into account also the e...

When a second-order magnetic phase transition is tuned to zero temperature by a nonthermal parameter, quantum fluctuations are critically enhanced, often leading to the emergence of unconventional superconductivity. In these "quantum critical" superconductors it has been widely reported that the normal-state properties above the superconducting transition temperature T(c) often exhibit anomalou...
