This article presents the case of a terminal stage cancer patient who lived alone and had a detached relationship with his family, and negative behaviors such as: depression, passivity, silence, refusal of treatment, and inability to trust others because of lack of family care during hospitalization. We cared for the patient with direct personal nursing care, using skillful physical evaluation,...
Falteringly and clumsily Bob came into the Clinic, walking on his toes, his legs looking as though they might at any moment give way under him. His arms were always flexed and his apparently helpless hands hung at right angles to his arms. To stabilize his spastic gait he waved his arms in mid-air as he trudged along. Every step and movement he accomplished with much effort, accompanied by heav...

membrane/ protein trafficking in the secretory/ biosynthetic and endocytic pathways is mediated by vesicles. vesicle trafficking in eukaryotes is regulated by a class of small monomeric gtpases the rab protein family. rab proteins represent the largest branch of the ras superfamily gtpases, and have been concerned in a variety of intracellular vesicle trafficking and different intracellular sig...
The importance of this condition lies in the fact that the cases are by no means uncommon, and that if the condition is recognized the child is saved much misery and the parents spared the expense and trouble of endeavouring to educate a child who through no fault of his own is incapable of achieving the results that are expected of him. The child will often develop an inferiority complex, as h...
We have expressed recombinant RNase P protein from Escherichia coli in high yield. A hexahistidine sequence at the amino terminus allowed protein purification in a single step. Mass spectrometry confirmed the molecular weight of the purified protein and indicated a purity of > 95%. Protein functionality was demonstrated by reconstitution of active holoenzyme.
Site-specific fluorescent labeling of proteins in vivo remains one of the most powerful techniques for imaging complex processes in live cells. Although fluorescent proteins in many colors are useful tools for tracking expression and localization of fusion proteins in cells, these relatively large tags (>220 aa) can perturb protein folding, trafficking and function. Much smaller genetically enc...
BACKGROUND Making peptide pharmaceuticals involves challenging processes where many barriers, which include production and manufacture, need to be overcome. A non common but interesting research area is related to peptides with intracellular targets, which opens up new possibilities, allowing the modulation of processes occurring within the cell or interference with signaling pathways. However,...
Recombinant clathrin protein fragments form assemblies that template gold nanocrystals in an array across the latticed surface. The nanocrystals exhibit unusual anisotropic morphologies with long range ordering, both of which are dependent upon the presence of a hexahistidine tag on the clathrin heavy chain fragments.
Farabi has described the problem of emanation with negative determiners and referred to the first intellect as the first case of emanation. For him, the appearance of multitude by intellect is described on a dual order; though the way of description is not accepted by the philosophers before him, specially by Avicenna. Farabi links the old physics to the problem of emanation and, therefore, ...
