In this paper, an attempt has been made to study deterministic inventory models for deteriorating items with variable holding cost. This model has been developed considering demand function as quadratic with respect to time and salvage value is associated to the deteriorated items. At the end numerical example with sensitivity analysis also presented.

We consider a supply chain in which one manufacturer sells a seasonal product to the end market through a retailer. Faced with uncertain market demand and limited capacity, the manufacturer can maximize its profits by adopting one of two strategies, namely, wholesale price rebate or capacity expansion. In the former, the manufacturer provides the retailer with a discount for accepting early del...

The objective of this model is to discuss the inventory model for time varying demand and time dependent holding cost. Mathematical model has been developed for determining the optimal order quantity, the optimal cycle time and optimal total inventory cost in fuzzy environment. For defuzzification, graded unit preference integration method is used. Numerical examples are given to validate the p...

In this paper we formulate a two-stage stochastic quadratic optimization problem, that models a production planning problem of multiple products, over several time periods, with uncertain demands. This model considers quadratic inventory holding and demand backlogging recourse costs, which model the saturation phenomenon inherent to the increase of the inventory and/or backlogged demand levels....

This paper studies operations sequencing for a multi-stage production inventory system with lead times under predictable (deterministic) yield losses in the presence of uncertain demand, with full or partial release of work-in-process (WIP) inventories, for preor post-operation cost structures, and under the total discounted or average cost criteria. We derive necessary and sufficient criteria ...

In this paper, a fuzzy mathematical programming model is proposed to address integrated production and routing planning decisions which considers uncertain production and inventory capacities, as well as production, setup, inventory holding and transport costs. This proposal considers flexible constraints and the lack of knowledge related to the previous input parameters which are modelled by u...

In this paper, some multi-item imperfect production-inventory models without shortages for defective and deteriorating items with uncertain/ imprecise holding and production costs and resource constraint have been formulated and solved for optimal production. Here, the rate of production is assumed to be a function of time and considered as a control variable. Also the demand is time dependent ...

An inventory model for Weibull deteriorating items with time varying demand under permissible delay in payments and inflation is considered. Holding cost is linear function of time. Shortages are permitted and are completely backlogged. Sensitivity with respect to parameters has been carried out. Numerical example is taken to support the model.

We present a new dynamic programming formulation for the stochastic multi-stage serial inventory system based on the cost of sub-system with fewer stages. A heuristic based on judiciously selected common downstream holding costs requires solving one newsvendor problem per stage. A closed form approximate upper bound allows for accurate sensitivity analysis. 1

This note studies the optimal dynamic decision-making problem for a retailer in a price-sensitive, multiplicative demand framework. Our model incorporates lost sales, holding cost, fixed and variable procurement costs, as well as salvage value. We characterize the structure of the retailer’s (discounted) expected profit-maximizing dynamic inventory policy for both finite and infinite selling ho...
